I have used Apo…for a few years and the buffering issue is real, with or without vpn. Of course when you contact support they will walk you through a myriad of tests but essentially, it buffers. From my experience, Tivimate did not help, I also believe it to be a great IPTV player, so I cannot fault it either.

I am leaning more on blaming the device and the overall internet configuration. I think the device either helps or hinders depending on the type of device and configuration of your wifi network. Any glitch in the wifi signal significantly affects performance of any of these streaming services or players and we all know the infamous throttling practice of certain internet providers.

Reducing buffering is a huge task. From changing your WiFi channel to a less congested one, to ensuring your cables are the best, you can only do so much. Often internet providers have poor or outdated infrastructure. Then there’s mother nature. Caronal Mass Expulsions can adversely affect the net for days. From DDoS to malware it’s a real challenge. It isn’t just speed, it’s things like line noise. The list is massive and all you can do is your best. I’m fortunate as I rarely get buffering, but when I do it’s the most frustrating thing. Unfortunately until we develop better tech there is only so much we can do and this topic will never die.

When I cut the cord about 10 years ago. I went full in. I had a AV company come to the house and wired three rooms. All my Nvidia shields are hardwired to the router. I rarely get any buffering and when I do, I use protonvpn.
