Not sure why you would say that. Ethernet is a great option for those whose modem is not accessible by WiFi, or has a bad wifi speed. Ethernet or WiFi with at least 30+Mbps down is all you need.
good wifi does not make a great box. It’s actually much more than that. Basically a stream is at its best hard wired with less drops etc. An instance where wifi might be better is a box with 10/100 and then wifi might out perform the eth. Mecool km2 is one example.
It’s all relative to how many gremlins are living in your home
Adding a USB Drive via an On The Go (OTG) cable will allow you to free up space on a device, and if space is low, this will speed up the device. Of course this is just one small aspect of the whole streaming experience. TP-Dracoo has posted a list of articles on reducing buffering and how to speed up the Firestick. Many of those same optimizations and suggestions will work across other platforms as well.
Agree…I’m a big believer in hard wiring first, but very big believer in the high quality wifi6 boxes (paired with a wifi6 router) where ethernet hookup isnt attainable. It is faster, more efficient and travels longer distances with less interference than wifi5 and below. It is one of the features that I require in a box.
Hi AMD237 so the firestick 4k max is wifi 6 if u have access to wifi 6 router?
The Nvidia shield pro is 802.11ac which is wifi 5?
Yes the Max is wifi 6 and the Shield Pro is wifi 5. I have my Shield hardwired and am hoping hoping hoping that Nvidia puts Wifi 6 in the next MegaShield Box.
So I’m better getting my wifi router updated to wifi 6 to make my firestick wifi 6
If you want to head into Wifi 6, you will have to get a Wifi 6 router. Luckily, they now have a little lower cost options than when wifi 6 initially came out.
Everything I have connected in our house is Wi-Fi. 5 TV’s with Android Boxes, 3 gaming systems and our phones, tablets and CPU’s. I have our regular Spectrum Wi-Fi router, a Netgear connected through a switch and an Orbi Satellite System with the main box and 2 satellites and have 0 buffering issues. Ever
Im not saying it is required for everyone to achieve good speeds, i just know it helps me at my house setup. Im a big believer in it.
I wasn’t saying you were wrong by all means. That’s what works for me. When I did have a Fire Cube I did have to hardwire it to get a decent speed which I found odd. I no longer have it, returned it for a Shield Pro
Oh WiFi 6 certainly is the way to go if you’re internet provider has it. If it was an option here I’d jump on it and get the best wifi 6 modem they provide.
I agree. Same here. Not sure when we will see it though
Mine is doing 360 mesh with 3 free pods for new customers … I signed up with them over a year ago and have an older modem/router they provided… only way for me to get the free upgrade is to cancel and re sign up… lol… so stilly
Nvidia Shield has been at the top of most people’s lists for years. It was way ahead of its time when released.
One I also believe is a top-notch box is the Formuler Z8 (CC version now available) The Formuler has its own built-in IPTV player MyIptvPlayer 2 which accepts many playlist inputs.
I find Tivimate (paid version) is the best IPTV player for all boxes. It gives you the choice of hiding channels you don’t watch & many other handy settings.
I hope this helps.
Very nice! I like our KM2
