Best Android tv box

That’s probably how I lost that sock in the laundry! Still haven’t found it after over a month now! lol

I think a link from TP for a different Mecool box went straight to the Mecool website and that’s where I got it. Found a coupon and I believe it was discounted. Usually $80.

Thank you.
I have a friend whose Firestick bricked after about a year and I’m thinking about giving him one of my ONN and upgrading to another moderately priced Android box.

Your MeCool at 60 sounds like a good possibility.

Hi, I have this device and would appreciate workarounds to get a better system interface like that of a Google certified device, it is by default rooted & has a custom firmware where some apps properly work,

The interface is very strange and the playstore doesn’t even get updated & give a proper selection

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The AllWinner chip set is an auto red flag for me. Poor performance chip set .

See this for our suggested Android TV/Google TV devices - Best Android TV/Google TV Boxes in 2026 (Goodbye Fire TV)

We will be updating our list again soon

$25 ONN Streaming Box, $12-32gb 3.0 Flash Drive and a $5.00 OTG Cable and that is what I use.

Search the slimbox flashing post and see if the all winner chip can be flashed with slimbox. I have an x88 pro and it works great. 4GB ram 64GB drive. Slimbox and project ivy makes it great

I came here looking for “best streaming box.” Google is flexing their power with Android, and Amazon is doing the same with Fire.

I have to wonder if we are better getting a NUC or similar. A Windows box. you can get used ones for a couple hundred, some come with the OS (or you can install Linux – something I’ve never done but which gives even more freedom).

It seems the full fledged power of a real PC, in a small box with low power and no external “stuff” is worth the extra $100 or so – and so far, none of the restrictions of the TV boxes.

With the pervasive crackdown on what used to be freedom on Android and Fire, is Windows or Linux on an Intel box the way to go today?

Thanks for the link- just ordered I’ve been wanting to try the tivo- can the internal storage be expanded via usb?

Wow, that was an old post of mine….in the iptv world yesterday might be old news :joy: …however the Tivo streamer still works well for what you pay. Wifi only unless you get an otg cable for it and its lower end specs….and the Tivo eco-system is fine but googlish.
