Check out volume on remote, bottom right corner, 4 dots. And settings in Formuler Remote.
Check that you haven’t lowered the volume by the Formuler remote - if you haven’t set it to lower tv volume, it will lower the sound on the Z11 pro.
To program a Formuler remote (IR or BT1) to control your TV,
use the learning function by holding the ‘TV’ button for 5 seconds until the LED stays solid, then map the TV’s power, source, and volume buttons by pointing the remotes at each other within 3cm. For BT1 remotes, use the Formuler Remote app for advanced setup
Yes I did.
It says half way but don’t know how to turn it up all the way. Gonna google it . Thank you!!!
Try using the voice control to increase it.
I always find a need to emphasize to those new to the streaming community, the most important consideration when buying a streaming box. It’s like the old adage which says, why would you spend money on a Rolls Royce, when you can spend a fraction of a cost on a car that will still get you there?!! I spent $ 200 on a nVidia Shield and around $ 45 on a ONN Pro. I bought the ONN for $ 155 less, and the ONN can provide the same streaming experience at a cheaper cost. That being said, unless you’ve got money to burn, or you need a high-end streaming box for gaming, for example, there is really no need to spend extra money for higher specs “underneath the hood" which is overkill at a higher cost! This is a great forum to read reviews and help you save extra bucks when deciding on a device.
Thank you for your analogy, but I’d rather tour down the highway in a Rolls Royce any day than try and just keep up in a cheap rattle box. But I enjoy my creature comforts these days, and running 64Bit Apps as well as having fast transitions with the best quality Picture my system can run. So it is all about your personal expectations and what you can afford. If an Onn does it for you then you’ve found your niche. If you need more and can afford it, then do it. Most importantly learn how to use what you have and enjoy this hobby, don’t let it stress you out.
I’m with you, Miki. I’d rather cruise down the highway in a Corvette or Ferrari anyday rather than some sub compact china rattle trap. Even if I could never exceed the speed limit.
That is why they make 100s if not 1000s of boxes, so every body can buy what they want. Need got nuthin’ to do with it.
Whenever I purchase something I also look at how much I will be using it. If not very much, I’m OK using something that will get me by. My streaming boxes are always in use, so for me, it’s worth the extra $$ but I know that’s not how everyone feels and I can understand that as well. Just glad we are now at a point where we have many options to choose from. I remember back in the teens, it was basically Firestick or cheap Android box.
When purchasing a box, it should always be about what you need that box for, unless you just like the thought of having the biggest and the best. Not only will that become unnecessarily expensive, but, those who are new deserve to know they don’t have to spend more money on some high-end specs that won’t be required for what they want to do. Simple.
Very true and I agree if all you need is a cheap box and you are satisfied with what you get then that’s exactly what you should do. I started there and quickly learned of it’s limitations and how it lacked in providing what I wanted, so moved on and up. Now I’m wanting better and more specifically 64 bit apps, so that doesn’t happen with cheaper devices. As Troy pointed out, it’s great that there are a wide range of devices to satisfy everyone’s needs. This hobby can cover just about every way imaginable to get what you want. Enjoy and have a buffer free day.
I love my Shield and love to try out all the new stuff that comes out, but I was floored at how well the ONN Pro handled the basic streaming tasks for such a low price point! What’s your favorite go-to box?
I had and loved my shield pro 2019, but was fortunate enough to get a BuzzTV P6L Ultimate which I’ve had for many months now and absolutely love. Unless some super device comes out I suspect this will be my go to for a very long time, however I would enjoy testing out one of the new AI boxes or an AM 9 Pro. Lots of fascinating devices on the market these days and thoroughly enjoy reading up on Troy’s reviews and watching his vids. Being retired and going on 72 I have lots of time on my hands and relish the opportunity to learn.
If that is all you use and don’t know how a better device improve the sound / picture quality, you would be happy with the “cheap” device.
A better analogy would be a smart phone, a cheap / expensive phone do the basic function of a smart phone well
Other considerations to account for:
What are the capabilities of the TV, monitor or projector that your device is going to be connected to?
Who’s going be watching? (Not everyone’s eyes are as discerning as Miki’s or my wife’s)
How easy is it for the nontech, impatient members of your household to use?
Budget is obviously more concerning for some than others. And why are you here? Are you here to avoid paying too much for content? Or, are you here because you view this as a hobby?
Two points. One, most people don’t care if they have the biggest and the best (like a car), as long as it does the job and does what THEY want it to do (like a less expensive car, which gets them to where they want to go with more money in their wallet). And two, I don’t believe that there are too many people who are new to the hobby, who want to plop down more money than they need to for the reason of just being able to say, ‘I’ve got the biggest and the best’ when they can’t tell the difference. The operative point here is to look for a box that will ‘DO WHAT YOU WANT IT TO DO’, and that you don’t necessarily need to empty your wallet to find a box that will make that happen. I’ve got an ONN 4k Pro and a couple of nVidia Shields, and I would challenge anyone to tell the difference between the two, if you didn’t know which one you were using while doing basic streaming. Just some simple, common-sense advice that needs to be highlighted for those new to the hobby, every time the topic of the biggest and best devices are talked about. That’s why these forums exist, right?
@MaverickCoast Bravo for this statement. Seeing more and more posts like this and really curious if this is the case. Been streaming for 10 years. First with Firesticks, then T95Z Plus (cheap China boxes!), and now with the ONN 4K Pro’s. never had an expensive “Premium” box as never felt the need. I guess this argument about the best box will go on as long as the KODI vs Stremio argument will.
Anyway interesting to say the least
You have got to be kidding, Stremio won that battle long ago……….

I agree.
My device is Formuler - daily driver Z8pro MYTVOnline 2.
After a couple of “cheap” china boxes, picked Z7+5G because of the app and remote. Upgraded to Z8pro because MYTVOnline 2 had features I wanted to make it easy for my parents to use.
Have not upgraded to Z11 pro or Z12 Ultra - played with and setup both for family. You are correct it is hard to tell if you are using Z8pro or Z11 pro when watching IPTV, there is a difference with Z12 ultra (DV / atmos) when you have the right setup.
Errr, no. Kodi and Stremio have some common ground on a Venn diagram, but Kodi has more utilities than merely functioning as a VOD streaming app.
As far as this topic goes, the amount of money anybody wants to spend (wife would say: waste) on a device depends on who and why you’re buying it.
Is the goal to watch TV on the cheap or is it to immerse yourself in the highest quality experience that you can?
