Best Alternative Search Engines in 2024 (Stop Using Google!)

Could you be more specific. I have had very good experience with Perplexity!

Explain what?

Iā€™m a bit perplexed lolā€¦

I think she is eluding to the google incognito settlement?

Yall should try StartPage as your default engine. When iā€™m taking a deep dive I use all of them to research. Startpage uses google, Duck, Bing etc at once and returns are good. My actual fav is Dogpileā€¦an oldie.

I downloaded it but canā€™t see how to make it the default search option in chrome. Working on that.

Hey tx @TXRon I downloaded the startpage app. Pretty good results so far. No fancy visuals, just straight foward search results. I guess itā€™s a browser to. Havenā€™t taken it that far yet.

Startpage owns startmail that I think Troy uses. The app can be all inclusive, browser, search, mail and password manager.

Yeah but usually they leave a note or notice that itā€™s been removed pending committee referral. I guess yours just took it out completely and I didnā€™t see it before disappeared. Yeah give me further explanation, send me an email.

Once again you jump into something that does not concern you, make a completely incorrect assumption, then generalize me with another snarky comment after being told you were wrong. Your a peice of work I tell ya @AJS1 :joy: :man_shrugging:

My problem is with the Chrome browser that is owned by Google it uses too much RAM in my system and slows my Samsung Galaxy S5e down that I have to constantly clear it out. It is too RAM intensive when I go on to Googleā€™s homepage I always forget to scroll down there are news stories there I donā€™t pay attention much with that. Even in the Google Chrome settings you could change your default search engine but what good is it if the chrome uses too much RAM and takes about almost a Gb out of your storage each 30 minutes. Everything I search on Google usually comes up on my YouTube to recommended wish they wouldnā€™t do that. I might just look into different browsers that donā€™t use so much RAM and my tablet is the 6 GB RAM version shouldnā€™t have a problem. I think I will check out FoxRocks browser from Vivaldi it probably isnā€™t as ram intensive as Chrome. I got my first laptop in 2008 and learned a lot back then cloning hard drive so I donā€™t need any advice on speeding up my tablet thanks. One thing I wanted to add about the Troypoint insider I think it is a great place to get information. I like to help people out every so often and try and save everybody money which everybody I would think would like to do. But as I read about the new Google streamer from Troyā€™s email I was guided by a rampage of argument about something that had nothing to do with that streamer at all you know who you are. I just thought one time when I commented a gang of people jumped on me commenting wow way off topic you know who you are and I see what you write. All I can say is if you get to that point where you have to criticize somebody you need to separate what is good and what is bad. Maybe find something else other to do then dealing with your electronics for a while. Those types of banter should have their own thread. What I am saying here is be kind to all. We all come here because we have an interest in learning and discussing our experiences itā€™s helped me a lot. Thanks Troy and to all that are helpful.:v:

I have 2 Samsung S21+ phones and a Samsung Tab. I donā€™t get the loss of storage space as you seem to, nor do I have any issues with RAM and slowing down. Iā€™ve used Chrome on all my devices without isssue. Played around with various search engines and still not found one that works as good as Google for me. Never a hiccup or glitch or issue after many many years and on a variety of devices. Now I did use the silk browser on the FireOS devices as itā€™s optimized for those and I use the TV Bro browser on my Shield, again because it just seems to work better on there.
