Best Add-ons problem

Since the Oath has started to not work, (oh what a pity!!) I decided to play with some of the new Best Add-ons recommended for 2022. I was still using 18.9 as it was working fine. This is on my extra Firestick Fire TV, so a bit older. I started by removing 18.9 from the firestick and reloading 19.4. That was no problem. First, I tried to add Misfitmods. no problem until I got to install from zip file, click on the file and nothing. Message to say not connected to network, which I know it was, I checked the Firestick. I tried another add-on, same thing.
Is there a problem with URL’s or something? I’ve done this several times before without this problem. Any help or advice appreciated.

Hi, did you turn on the unknown sources in kodi.
Because you reinstalled Kodi and unknown sources must be on.
If not to do that:
Launch Kodi> Click the settings icon> Click on System> Hover over Add-ons menu item and turn on Unknown sources if not already on> Click Yes
Then follow the steps shown in TP manual.

Thanks Matrix, Yes I did check unknown sources was on. I don’t think that is my issue, but it’s weird, not had this before. Then again, I’m not a techy guy, just an old fart trying to get better cheap TV and movies!
I’ll go back, clean it all out again and start over.
Great help and tips here, thanks to all.

Welcome to our little corner of the streaming world. This seems to be a recurring theme lately. Often the repo is simply down or off for maintenance or updating. I find it valuable, before starting an addon install, to plug the url into my browser, of choice, and then try going to it. If it’s up and running you should find an “index” usually listing what’s in the repo. If nothing, it may be down and you might have to wait for even a day and try again. Please let us know how you make out. Good luck.

You’re welcome if any issues pls post. Thanks again.

Don’t worry about not being techy, that’s what we’re here for. Use the search and ask the questions, and lastly please let us know what helped or solved your issue. That helps us focus our answers for others. Have fun and STREAM ON.

Thanks, a good idea. I’ll try that, can’t hurt.
I just retried misfit with 18.9 rather than the new 19.4 Kodi and same thing. I can get to the zip file I named it as, but it will not then go to the next step, URL. I tried this with another add-on and same thing. I did recheck my spelling etc.
Good job I’m only playing on my spare TV system!! Wifey wouldn’t be happy.

Ok, now I’m getting bewildered. What I’ve done is uninstall Kodi from my Firestick, reloaded it, I’ve tried 18.9 and 19.4, checked that “unknown sources” on Firestick and Kodi are on. I can get as far as “install from zip file” to where it shows the name I gave to the zip file, but it will go no further. It does not go to the next step, repository URL. I’ve done this process several times and nothing changes. Any ideas why? I’ve not had this issue before when loading add-ons. The only thing I can think of is I’m getting blocked, but where I live, ISP spying is not a big problem. Or is it my older Firestick, but that doesn’t make sense either.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

Is the repo actually up and running? Maybe check that first.

I’ll check again, but no time right now, so I’ll let you know. This is weird!
Thanks for your support.
