Backup / Restore Tivimate Settings Between Firesticks

I have a few firesticks and an Onn box all with Tivimate. I’d like to work out all the tivimate settings I want on one of them and then do a backup on that device and somehow transfer it to my other devices for a restore. What’s the best/easiest way to do that?

Easiest way I’ve found to transfer a Tivimate backup is using the Send Files to TV app.

I use SMB to my laptop to backup and the restore to another device.

Thanks! I’ll look into that app.

Hey @hotwheels Was not familiar with SMB but see I have it somewhere in my Win 11 waiting to be activated…I’ll have to check it out. Offhand…you know of an “easy” tutorial link I can check out? :cowboy_hat_face:

I find the easiest way is to save a backup, then using ES File Explorer copy the backup file and go to the Cloud File icon and select a Cloud Drive you use and then paste the file. I have created a folder under Local/Internal Storage named Tivimate Backups and the same on my Cloud Drive.

Gotcha, i have that file explorer but had some trouble getting the cloud drive working in the past. I will give it another try as that does seem like a good way to do it and not involve trying to connect to my computer.

Yes, much faster and I found it nice if I need to fix someone’s Tivimate I can do it from their location. I use One Drive without a problem so you can try that cloud drive. If you don’t have it just register for a free account.

Thanks for the tip. Believe i was trying to use dropbox. Will get back into it tonight.

I got OneDrive set up in ES File Explorer and was able to copy a backup file to the cloud drive. But when I try to copy the file from the cloud drive back to the device for doing a restore, I get a “Failed to copy the file” message. I’ve tried a couple different sticks and onn boxes and same thing. Using my laptop, I can download the files just fine from the cloud. I confirmed that ES File Explorer has storage permission. Any idea what I’m doing wrong here?

You can’t copy/clone one Firestick or TiViMate setup from one firestick to another. Anything placed on external media for apps etc can only be read by the stick that “created” it. Playlist logins and URLs will have to be re-entered I believe.

I don’t backup directly to One Drive. I backup to the local drive and then do a copy function with ES File Explorer to the One Drive. When I want use that backup, I just copy it over from One Drive to the local fire stick you’re using.

@ Miki…BTW, if you read the thread you would know that we were talking about Tivimate.

Lol. I know. Sorry for adding additional info. I was trying to point out that I don’t think you can copy your entire Tivimate configuration from one firestick to another. I tried to make it brief but shouldn’t have I guess. My bad.

That’s exactly what i was trying to do. I will have to mess with it more later.

@Miki Are you saying I can only backup and restore on the same device? That’s a bummer. I’d like to be able to get all my EPG groups, channels, etc set up the way I like on one device, do a backup of it and then restore it on another device so that it’s all laid on the same way. Is this possible?

TXRon does backups but I don’t think you can transfer a TiViMate backup from one firestick to another. Usually any app info transferred to a USB Drive from one firestick cannot be read by another Firestick. I would double check with TXRon, I have never tried this. I only have backed up to a file on my Max and uninstalled and reinstalled TiViMate, logged in and then do a restore, but the file never leaves my Max.

I backup up my tivimate and use the file on all my other devices all the time. Can be used to update or setup another device.

You can use usb or smb to computer.
