I watched it all. Not sure you’ll find an answer there my friend.
Yup, I exclusively use the TDUK App Killer and the TDUK Cache Cleaner for the mere convenience of completing the process.
Yes, I can go into all apps and force close one at a time and then go to cached data in my Shield’s setting and clear all cash. Having these 2 apps on my homepage makes this process much more expedient and prompts me to remember to do it.
Like I said previously, closing apps and clearing cache should not be something I need to give much thought to.
Closing apps daily and clearing cache isn’t something i ever do anymore. I do check things about once a week and using the Shield Pro built in settings is pretty easy. But, like PF, it isn’t something I am concerned about anymore.
I ran a bunch of experiments last night and you are spot on. If you exit out an app properly. Then this essentially close the apps background. The foreground will stay exactly as it was when you exited out.
Example I used was with Syncler+ when I exited it and wrote down the cache (6.14Mb) and then checked back every half hour. The cache was still at 6,14Mb. There was no change in the cache total after several hours of checking.
Btw, this was not utilizing any method for closing apps, i.e. TDUK App Killer or the Shield method for closing all background apps.
So, my question is, is any of this really necessary any longer? When you close down your device doesn’t that also close out all running apps whether it’s foreground or background? Also, doesn’t restarting (reboot) your device also clear any cache that may be stored?
That’s kinda the point I was getting at and tx PF. My research indicated that the modern OSs actually put background apps into deep sleep, resulting in no additional cache increases and in fact your question is spot on. From my experiments, if not force closing an app, then even restarting will not remove it, and it will still be in the background but rebooting will clear all stacks and flush the RAM, clear the cache, and thus remove background “sleeping” apps. Kinda a lengthy answer to your question but my conclusion is, closing background apps daily, or multiple times daily for some, doesn’t do a whole hell of a lot, and that’s why I just do this on a weekly or even biweekly schedule now.
Cache only needs clearing if the app is having an issue with the data stored - normally this data is used to restart app where it finished when last used.
Also I normally leave Formuler in standby mode - for quick starting with the last app streaming the channel watched and do a complete shut down / restart once a week to refresh apps making a new connection with service provider / wifi connection.
I don’t know a lot about Android so maybe I am missing something. About every week I restart my Android box on my assumption that it will clear the cache and only load necessary background processes on restart.
Some weeks I forget but tbe performance of the box doesn’t seem to be degraded at all. It seems easier than using separate apps …. If my assumption is correct.
