Audio issues streaming certain content

I use an Nvidia Shield exclusively, and it’s only the Livingroom TV. Having audio issues for a few years now. Haven’t been able to solve it. It’s when I’m using HDMI or optical cable from soundbar to TV. If I’m watching Kemo IPTV or Stremio, the audio will cutout for a second continuously. The only remedy has been to connect through bluetooth whenever I’m watching content on those apps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using another player. In Stremio I had sound issues with the sound cutting out for a couple of seconds. Troy addressed this issue. In Stremio I went to Settings>Playback>Default Player and switched it from the ExoPlayer to libVLC and that fixed it for me. Perhaps install MX Player Pro and then choose it if you don’t want to try the libVLC. In IPTV(Tivimate) I had VLC installed and used it. Let us know if it helped please.

Doubt it’s the player that’s the problem, but it could be. Do you have your shield audio output set to “auto” and Dolby audio processing turned on? Is stereo upmix on or off? Try changing these settings one at a time for a while to see if the issue is resolved. If not, go into your available formats section and select “never use surround sound”. Also replace your HDMI cable with a good quality 2.1 cable. Monoprice has really good cables at a cheap price.

Switching from the default ExoPlayer to the libVLC worked for me, but you’re correct, it could be shere coincidence that the problem was resolved switching players. Small glitches like this seem to occur after an update and then subsequent updates fix it. So many parameters to consider.

Thank you for the idea, but unfortunately that didn’t work either.

Some information I forgot to include was my bedroom TV setup(Shield/HDMI from TV to soundbar) doesn’t have this issue.

Try what @Jayhawks659 suggested.

Changing the audio output from AUTO to HDMI has apparently done the trick so far.:crossed_fingers:t2:

Thank you both!

Great timing on the audio issues. But I only use bluetooth/headphones. Occasionally I will get the choppy issue. I’ll play around with this, following Miki’s and Jayhawks recommendations.

Thank you guys!

Try turning TV audio settings on audio

So in reply to my above post, I finally fixed (?) my choppy audio issue. This was on my Shield Pro. I had recently purchased a new TV with some bells and whistles like HDR+10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. So I plugged two of my boxes, and 2nd gen Cube and my Shield Pro. I did have some early issues with Cube/TV working together but fixed that after I figured out that the Cube thought that I was still using my old Vizio. So both boxes were working fine. So I figured that it was time to explore the Dolby Vision which is when my choppy sound began. In the process of setting up the Dolby stuff, there are quite a few options that I really didn’t understand, so I just went with it. I figured that I had inadvertently got the setting wrong. And since there seemed to be quite few options I kept fooling around with those settings. You know, turn this on and turn that off to no avail. Nothing worked to get rid of the horribly choppy sound. FYI, I did not turn on the Dolby Atmos option since I solely watch this TV with headphone. So I tried Jayhawks suggestions but still still no joy. So I reverted to the old standby, Reddit! “TURN OFF DOLBY” and that worked! So I am at a loss to understand why having Dolby Vision on would cause a sound issue as the picture was just fine. Not a big deal breaker for my as I typically watch older stuff. And with the supposed AI upgrade on the TV and the Shield Al, everything looks great and way better than my old 7 year old Vizio.

Sorry for the long diatribe, but figured that since I didn’t really find a lot of discussion on choppy sound I would post it for site knowledge.
