Yes, they want to pass legislation to block internet but don’t give a damn about Big Business selling, errr leaking everyone’s Social Security numbers! Give me a break! The US has better things to worry about!

Anyone have a recommendation for a good identity theft protection service that will monitor the dark web and issue alerts for suspicious activity?

Malwarebytes. You can check if your creds are on the dark web. Real time scanning active lets you know if a site is unsafe or just a phishing site etc. Even has real time txt scanning for embedded malware/adware/spyware etc.

Lifelock
With all the outsourcing these companies do with their IT department, I am not surprised and most breaches we don’t hear about them until way after the fact. These are inside jobs as well as hackers, when you outsource you give up a lot of control.

I use Norton Lifelock. Not great, very expensive, but you just cant get an unbiased evaluation of the options out there - everyones go something to gain!
We live in wild times, These companies will always be at risk and so will our data. So my advice for everyone with this hack is.

Change your AT&T account password and enable multi-factor authentication.

2FA should be enabled on all your accounts that offer it. It’s 2025 you really should be using it.

Monitor your credit for signs of fraud and consider freezing your credit temporarily.

Be vigilant for phishing attempts and scams that may use your personal information.

I was one of the people who had their social security number put on the web a few years ago when a major company was hacked. Then the criminals got into or bank account using that info and stole $10k out of my savings account. Let me tell you, once your social security number is out there , you are screwed, because the social security administration won’t give you an other number so it’s out there for the rest of your life…they just don’t care to help you at all . all you can do is put a credit freeze on, but that’s of little help.

This is AT&T’s 2nd breach, it happened a few years ago because we had to change our password then, gotta go change it again Geez.
Has anyone received an class action suit email from
attsettlement@e.emailksa.com? If so, has anyone submitted their documentaion? Opinion: should I submit, even through I don’t currently have any losses?

I don’t think it will hurt in any way to file. even through you don’t currently have any losses doesn’t mean in the future you won’t, but the small pittance you probably will recieve (I did a verizon one a while back, and boy oh boy that $5.58 sure came in handy !!) won’t help much….the REAL money makers in all these type judgements/settlements are the attorneys/lawers @ 1/3% fee which is pretty standard is about $49,000,000….not bad for not much effort on their part….This is all just my opinion so for what it is worth….

Thanks for your imput. I’ll think more about joining. They should just send a check without requiring addition information. I hate sharing my infor for about a $2 payout.

I was having a problem with Norton LifeLock so I signed up with Aura just to check it out. Aura got fantastic reviews on the internet so I thought “what the heck”. Turns out it is absolutely awful! Has nowhere near the features and capabilities of LifeLock. One thing I did like about Aura is that you can understand the technical support people - they speak English! Pity they couldn’t fix the deficiencies I’d raised.
So cancelled Aura and went back to Lifelock - they eventually fixed the issue I’d had.
Well, I’m pretty sure they already have your info as you got the email from them..
..but if another 1 or 200,000 feel the same about sharing info your $2 could turn into $3.84 OR more .
IKR, with inflation that will probably only buy a candy bar. 
….yup, and we’re not talking a Jumbo Share Size either
