Are There IPTV Services Offering Consistent Full HD (1080P) Channels?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been digging into a lot of Troy’s content and recently set up a whole house DVR for IPTV using his guide—worked out great, by the way! I’m also a new Patron supporter and figured it was time to get more involved in the community here.

I’ve tried out a few IPTV services recommended through TroyPoint, including ShackTV, ITTECH, and Tenet Streams. Overall, they’ve been solid in terms of reliability and performance, but one thing I’ve noticed is that most of the channels seem to top out at 720P.

I’m curious if anyone has found an IPTV service that consistently offers true Full HD 1080P streams (or better)???

Not looking for links—just wondering if they exist, and if there are any that are worth exploring further. I’ve got a decent setup (onn 4K pro streaming box and fast internet), so I’m good on that front—just looking to upgrade the overall quality of streams if possible.

Appreciate any insights or recommendations people are willing to share! And if there’s already a thread covering this, happy to be pointed in the right direction.

Yes, they do indeed exist. :+1:

Yes. The one service I use has over 1000 FHD or better

They do but don’t focus on specs, focus on picture quality. Some that deliver 1080p are just upscales which you could do with a Shield Pro etc. or at a lower bitrate or frame rate and they actually look worse than a 720p stream. Framerate is especially important for sports.

The one I use focuses on sports. Most of the higher res channels are 50fps and 5.1 audio.

I’ve tried out a few *IPTV services recommended through TroyPoint @tcinthe303…not to mince words here but Troy offers “reviews”—not “recommendations”—of IPTV providers…there is a difference…

I understand completely. I have tried some of the ones he has reviewed and overall haven’t had any issues, just looking for more FHD channels. I am grateful for his reviews because it provides a good starting point and insight to each service.

Are you mainly US based sports? Looking through most of my sports channels the highest is generally 720P 30-60fps. I am not really seeing anything that is 5.1 audio. I have even looked at some of the UHD movie channels like HBO and it is still 720P 30fps and Stereo and these are movies you would think are 5.1.

The service I use is a mixture of sports offerings.

How do you determine picture quality?

I am starting a tracker and checking the quality of about 100 of the most popular channels to see the quality of both video, fps, and audio. I’m using VLC player or Televizo to do so. Both of these will tell you the information above. I find that so far out of the providers I have tried many channels will be listed as 4K, FHD, or others, but truly are not.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I’m basically just going to try each service for about 1 month and record the quality of about 100 channels to get an idea of quality.

Most services I have tried top out at 1080P and your tv can upscale that to some degree to mimic 4K. The problem for IPTV providers in streaming in anything above 1080P is bandwidth, which can result in more buffering and freeze ups, which won’t make for happy campers among their subscribers. Personally, I’d much rather have a service with smooth, reliable streams at 1080P than 4K, at least until providers get sufficient bandwidth to support it. In the interim, that doesn’t appear likely.

The easiest way is to just trust your eyes to see what looks good to you. If you have the choice of a sports broadcast in 720p 60fps and 1080p 30fps most people would probably prefer the 720p 60fps since the motion will be smother with less blurring during fast action. Resolution isn’t the final word with other factors including original feed resolution and bandwidth and whatever (if anything) the provider did to the stream to save bandwidth or upscale to be able to advertise a 1080 stream etc.

If you really want to go with imperial evidence at least add bitrate into the stats you use.

I’m just fine with getting a service that doesn’t have much 4K but more 1080p or 720p at 60fps. I mostly use IPTV for sports and some occasional other programming to have on in the background while working. So far I’m seeing a lot of 540p stations or 720p with 30fps. I’m hoping to find something with more 60fps and more 720p than 540p.

You are correct and I mainly watch sports, so I’m all for 720p @ 60fps, but I’m getting a lot at 540p or 720p @ 30fps. Hoping to find something that has more 720p at the higher frame rate.
