Aptoide TV is there a problem?

Hello all - My 2016 Shield was acting up after the last update. It seemed like the file system had become corrupted Since I also decided to go to Kodi 19 (begrudgingly), I decided that it was time to do a factory reset.

I had one heck of a time downloading the Aptoide store. I have a USB stick for all of my Kodi stuff and backups. None of the file managers would show any of my apks on that stick . I did have an older version of the Aptoide APK but it was invisible in any of the file manager apps available on Google Play. I had enabled hidden files wherever I could as well.

Undaunted, I tried to download it with Chrome on my laptop. Nothing happened. (I’m trying to download from the official Aptoide site and I’m sure of that) I then tried to download it through the Puffin browser on the Shield. Nope. (and, yes, I did check download from unknown
sources)

I was finally able to download the APK using the MS Edge browser on my laptop but it grumbled and complained that the app was going to track me. Google Play’s security tried to block it too because it was going to " track me". I overrode it. I’ve never done anything like this before. I have used Aptoide for years. It has always been OK. But I have never ignored security warnings like this.

I do think that Google may be blocking access to the alternate app stores. Has anyone ever had this problem? Am I going to be up all night removing malware or is Google just being a huge pain in the butt? Funny Google is suddenly worried about my cyber security. That would be a first. OMG - you’re being tracked and it isn’t us! Lol! But seriously, if anyone is aware of a problem with the Aptoide store APK please let me know. Thanks!

Hello there!

Disable play protect

Go through that, play protect is flagging things and auto deleting apps that don’t go with Google standards. Alot of flase positives. Always to be safe with unkown or unsure apps run anti malware programs to be safe and don’t use things you are unsure of.

You are fine to use that store or apk store. It allows you to get apps not normally on the play store so make sure play protect is off and install from I known sources.

I’d run defsquid app and do a anti virus check and start over.
