I am running a Nvidia Shield 19 an I am gotting a lot of apps licking me back to the tv launcher . Sometimes I will have to restart an app three or more times to get it to keep it from shutting down . Anybody know what the problem may be ?
Storage or heat? For starters…How much storage is avail?
One TB hard drive .
internal storage?
5.7 gb
ok storage looks ok. Is the fan on? put it on fast if possible
I just sprayed the box with air an put a android fan under it . It seems to be working better . Will let you know . Thanks !
They will get dusty inside with that active fan.
How often should you air spray the vents ?
I literally open up my Shield pro every 3 to 4 months to clear out the dust. I bought a specialized blower/vacuum for the job. I live in a dusty environment.
Im not inclined enough for that kind of job . I will stay with blowing air in the vents for now .
I’m just a particularly curios SOB and always doing things to the Nth degree. I always loved building my own systems from the MoBo up. So when I noticed some performance degredation I suspected the fan had sucked a lot of dust inside and knew the chance was good, that a simple blow of air, compressed or otherwise, might not dislodge compacted dust from the board, antenna or crevices inside, and that was the case. So now I go the extra yard with maintenance, just as I would for say my Goldwing, to keep it running at peak performance for the longest time possible.
I’m not that brave but I have to say my box is running better sense I blow the vents out an put a fan under the box .
Hi There,
From day one, when I purchased the Shield Pro, bought a small laptop Cooler powered from the TV USB and placed it under the Shield, remains cool all the time. I even bought a larger Laptop Cooler dual fan powered by the back AVR USB and placed it on top of the AVR to suck out the heat, both work brilliantly.
Must be mining cripto or something I’ve had mine since 2018 and have never cleaned it or updated it, some apps force close or if you have add blockers the my close when they can’t load adds
Anybody here know what size screwdriver ti unscrew the two screws on the back of the box ? I read on google it was a T7 but it was to big . Them tried a eyeglass tool . It was also to big . Anybody have any ideas .
On the back of my Shield I used a standard eyeglasses phillips screwdriver to remove the screws.
I went to walgreens an target . All they had was straight head .
A “T7” is a Torx driver. So no way would that work.
Your best bet is to go to Home Depot, Lowe’s, Harbor Freight or an Ace hardware and pickup a miniture screwdriver set. These little set really come in handy. I haven’t checked but even Amazon should have mini screw driver sets for cheap.
Mine is like this one. Really comes in handy.

Same here. Bought a mini set off Amazon years ago. A necessary tool for electronics, especially when doing electronic components for air handling equipment, boilers, water heaters and so on, let alone building your own desktop computer.
