I am using ONN 4K PLUS box . So far pretty happy. My eyes have either regressed or all apps/builds have fonts that are small. I’ve changed to largest font size available and still struggle. So question is, is there a way to add fonts that aren’t available in the apps themselves, or is there a app, or a build that is known for helping geezer eyes?
Sounds like you need to go through the Onn device display settings and change your font size there first. In Kodi you can change your native GUI resolution and your font size. But I don’t know if you’re using Kodi or something else. You didn’t specify. The more specific you are, the more help you’ll get. Let us know what you’ve already tried.
I am using ONN 4K PRO. I have, but don’t use the Firestick any more. Overall, compared to Firestick ONN is hands down better, not as good as Nvidia, but is in my budget.
The Fonts issue is creeping up one due to my eyes. I have Macular degeneration and now cataracts, so the words now jump around on me unless it’s a larger font. I just started using a build, DIGGZ ZENON PLUS, but although many screens are larger fonts, I am still having problems seeing.
Also, I am aware I could buy a larger TV, it’s the budget thing again.
I look again in the ONN settings and report back. Thanks.
Are you looking to increase the font size on the Onn screens or in kodi, specifically the Diggz Xenon build?
Well i am going to assume you want a bigger font in the Diggz Xenon Build.
Follow these steps…
- From Home Screen select “Xenon Plus”
- Select “Kodi skin settings”
- Scroll down and select “Interface”
- With “skin” already highlighted move to the right.
- Scroll down to “Fonts” and select
- Then select “Larger Font Size”
This will hopefully increase the font to a readable size for you.
Good luck and I hope it works.
Thank you for your response. I have done that and selected largest font. Although it did help, not all screens changed size.
My wife & I are watching right now and at end of night, I will check the ONN settings. I’ll update when done.
From what i saw all the fonts in the Diggz Xenon Plus build were larger. The picture itself wasnt nor did the subtitles seem larger when watching a movie. Where specifically did they not seem larger to you?
For a bigger picture you would do the same process and just under the font size adjust the Zoom level.
But increasing the Zoom will hide portions of the picture off the sceen.
This can also be done with the Onn Pro in settings under display. option.
If you want larger subtitle fonts i can explain that too.
- Press Xenon plus
- Kodi system settings
- Press Player
- Scoll down and select subtitles
- Select Size and pick a larger number than the default #42.
You will have to adust that to your liking. I dont know whats best for you.
Good luck.
Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I have moved on to Red Wizard build and found it much easier to read. (BTW. Getting cataract surgery in a month or so, so all might be moot) I do appreciate y’all’s help.
Update:
Take care of your eyes. I came down with a fast acting cataracts. Coupled with Macular degeneration I literally could not read stuff that just a few weeks earlier I could. I received new eye RX and glasses just six months ago. Within a month of receiving those vision really was degrading. Went to Berkely Eye Institute and they did the Lazik procedure that removed the cataracts. They explained because of my Macular degeneration I would never get perfect vision, but with new corrective lenses it seems perfect.
Thanks to the Troypoint community that tried to help me out. Greatly appreciated it. It’s great to post on a sight like this and not get the vitriolic responses.
God Bless Y’all
I hope all is going well for you. I also had fast growing cataracts and was having to get new corrective lenses every 6 weeks. I was informed that I would be blind before they could get me in to operate, remove the cataracts and install new lenses, and it would be a year until this could all be done. I asked for verification documents so I could get social assistance to pay for all my expenses. Suddenly I was able to get a scheduled day surgery to start the process and they would only do 1 eye at a time, but six months later all was done and I have never needed glasses again. What a relief. Take care of yourself and be well. Merry Christmas
That’s how out works in Texas, also. One eye at a time, wait for that eye to heal then 2nd eye is done. One eye is for close up, the other eye for distance and somehow the brain works it out. But you can see !!
Exactly. My lenses only do distance, I need magnifying glasses for phone and tablet, but beyond 2 Ft. I’m g2g.
