Hello Everyone. Can someone confirm if the new Chromecast with Google TV has issues with playing movie trailers. I’ve downloaded several versions of YouTube players and downloaded Cinema HD, two versions of film+ and Bed TV and when I select play trailer I receive the message You don’t have an app that can do this.For the record the Google TV box is new, many thanks :pray:

I did some searching and apparently this has been an issue for months. Many different reasons but apparently no fix. Seems to have happened after some update. I’ll keep trolling through forums.

I even tried installing IMDB as a means of viewing a trailer but unfortunately IMDB is not compatible with Chromecast. I’ll continue using the firestick for now

I haven’t found any solution at this point. Still looking. Are these you tube trailers you’re trying to watch? Or where are you trying to access these trailers?

The Cinema app like many of these movie apps uses YouTube to play the trailer. I can’t an alternative that will work. Yet my firestick works fine the reason for purchasing the Chromecast was A) it was in the black Friday sale and B) as an alternative if we lose our side loaded apps on our firesticks. Thanks Miki

So when you try and play that trailer does it open you tube? If not then it maybe a cinema issue. I also assume you have you tube installed on the chromecast.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Cinema HD, I’ve tried two versions of film plus and bee TV they all have YouTube and all show the same message. You don’t have an app that can do this. Yet the fire stick works :+1:. I think there’s a conflict with Chromecast and these movie apps. It doesn’t really matter but thought if there was a work around I would use it. But for now I’m happy to use the fire stick. Thanks for your help

Oh I know. I’m researching it and apps playing those trailers apparently try to start you tube to play the trailer so the device needs you tube installed to work, at least that was one persons solution to the “no app” warning. Just a thought. Still researching. Wow this is a big issue on Chromecast

Yes YouTube is installed. I think it’s a Chromecast conflict. Thanks Miki

Oh it definately is a Chromecast issue. Unfortunately from the many blogs I read there is no solution at this time. Sorry. Hopefully someone will release an update to fix it. gl2u.

It’s definitely a google issue not allowing the apk in my case startup show with the google TV box to play a trailer. Trailers will play with a firestick and a Nvidia Shield.
There was a time long long ago I liked and respected google not anymore.
