If you have an apk installed on external storage will there be a usb icon attached to it?
I know it does on a firestick 4k, but don’t see it on the shield pro.

I’m not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but the Shield has an option to format the external drive as
device storage. I have a 500gb USB external SSD hooked up to mine formatted to be basically internal storage. It has worked perfectly since the day I installed it.

No, but it will show in your file manager where you can make files and folders and access them. You do have a storage setting located in your Device Preferences>storage>USB Drive.
