I read today that Amazon is going to drop their Android OS in favor of a new OS they are developing. I doubt that it will affect those of us who currently have the Android device, at least not in the short run. But as time goes on we may be forced to abandon our Android devices to support updated apps.
Sorry I just realized that I may have offended you by the wording of your response. That certainly wasn’t my intent. I simply wanted to let you know. So sorry if I came across the wrong way.
You don’t need to subscribe. Elias is a known source of FireOS information and a very trusted one.
There’s already a prior thread in this forum regarding recent Vega OS announcements with quite a few posts that you will find helpful insight.

I concur. I believe most of their focused efforts will be with current gen new release and future device releases.
It would be a support nightmare to reimage current and prior generation hardware to a new OS.
Arguably, a Linux platform is probably a good idea for Amazon. It will not require as much cpu/gpu strength to run the software and it will free them from some of the Google ecosystem.
This may not be great for streamers as it will be unclear what kind of dev pkgs will be given out.
