Amazon fire stick keeps restarting

H’i folks,
Does anyone know why my 6-week-old Amazon fire stick 4 keeps restarting for no apparent reason please. I can’t actually use it now. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is it plugged into the wall? Try different power supply

Definitely use the power brick that comes with it.

I’ve had this on a few Max Firesticks and scratched my head as nothing seemed to work. So I did the usual power cycle with everything but still had the same issue. So I changed things. First was the HDMI port and that did nothing. Unplugged the stick and as I had a spare power cable and brick I changed those. That worked. So either my power cable or brick were bad. Cheap cables.

Yes, it is plugged into the wall, but its been fine up until now.

H’i Miki,
I have a couple of spare cables and bricks, so I’ll give it a go. Cheers.

Well, as with all electronics, there isn’t any gaurantee. It did work for me on 2 sticks last week. Let us know please.

Hi mate.
Now I don’t know what to do!! Miki says change it; you say not to.

Don’t change it until you verify if it’s the problem.

Use the one that is working if it ain’t broke don’t fix it

The only way to eliminate a bad brick or cable are to replace them. Won’t hurt a thing and may fix your issue. Worst case scenario, it doesn’t fix it. Nothing lost, nothing gained.

if tv is powerful enough try plugging i to usb on tv

One of mine did this because it was overheating. Pulled the tv a bit from the wall and the improved air circulation helped. If yours is running hot try a small fan. Search the Insider for fans.

If you are using your fire stick sometimes they get hot so let it cool down.

I was thinking this as well. I know I mention overheating everytime issues come up, but as was mentioned, these sticks and most streaming boxes run too hot because they don’t have an internal cooling system. It could be a cord issue, it could be a memory issue (running way too many background apps at once), and/or it could be overheating from that. I would get something like DefSquid to help close background apps. If necessary and none of these work, you may have to factory reset.

If this Stick is 6 weeks old, it’s still under warranty. Just return and get a new one?
