I see a lot of posts like this saying you will need a Fan on these generic boxes. I’ve had my 2 generic China boxes more than 5 years and am not sure I’ve ever turned them off. No overheating problems whatsoever ever

As far as “cheap” boxes and overheating, I’ve never had an issue. I just stream away. I’m not a gamer tho, unless you count firing up the old Atari 2600 for some Asteroids.

Glad you haven’t had that problem. That hasn’t been my experience. In fact I had a new box I paid $100 for fry a processor in less than a month and 2 others that simply froze up. Because of that, I always use a fan.

I am amazed at what you guys regard as slow download speeds. I live in the UK and get around 10mbs. Everything works fine with my Firestick and MeCool box. Used to get 38mbs and thought that was all singing and dancing.
Isn’t Allwinner notorious for malware?

just more high a percentage but it can be on any box.
And hopefully some Missile Command as well. Ah the good old days when things were so much more simple yet rewarding at the same time.

With the current economy I ordered an Allwinner h618 before doing my homework
Currently using Onn4k streamer and hoping for a few more bells and whistles
Been using Surfshark about 10 years now with no breaches so feel confident there. Just want to know in switching to another economy model if there may other issues to address? My skills and memory not as sharp as they used to be, even learning Scratch with my grandson can be difficult at times. So any advice would be appreciated so I can be prepared when the h618 is delivered.Have read this post completely but since its a little old want to make sure I am on a decent path. Thanks in advance for updates.
This is a decent box for running tivimate, kodi etc. However no certifications meaning apps like netflix will work but at a lower spec.

Thanks, sounds like what I am expecting but reading some of T95 posts had me questioning myself. My old brain misfires occasionally and I have a bad habit of overthinking. Enjoy my hobbies and appreciate those here like you that keep things simple. MarkG and Miki also have a lot of good information that I am able to digest.
