Just wanted to remind all the Canadian Insiders that on February 26th 2026 Amazon is launching their new Sidewalk feature. Don’t know a whole lot about this other than I don’t want it. It’s a way you get to share your wifi in one way or another with peoples devices that are close to your house. To turn it off, go into the Alexa app, go to settings then account settings and there’s a toggle to disable the feature.
Thanks @PapaS , this is an old feature for US Residents:
Reminds me of the old wild West days of the internet when there was no wifi security and I could surf the net using my Neighbor’s wifi ![]()
Wifi and sharing has always been an option in Android as far as I know. At least it has been for me. I turn all that near field stuff off as well.
Thanks for the reminder. I saw this was coming a while back but it wasn’t setup in the app yet. So I made a mental note to change it later but at my age, even written notes are not always useful! I have now switched it off.
We’re in the same boat, I remember reading about it a while back, probably from Troypoint but I know my mind is like a sieve so I set a reminder on my Proton calendar so I got an email reminding me this morning.
Proton calendar has become like my external usb memory. ![]()
