I’ve been using Kodi for years on various streaming devices. I recently purchased a new android tablet. It came loaded with Android 12. I installed Kodi using Downloader AFTVnews. Now every time I open Kodi or Downloader I get an annoying ad for TikTok.
Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to get rid of the ads?
Thanks for the replies. I never saw this kind of behaviour before either, that’s why I asked. It must have been some sort of virus. Did a device reset and reinstalled everything. Seems to be good for now.
Is it possible you downloaded one of the imposter versuons of those apps. Troy had already warned us of an imposter Downloader app. I don’t know of a Kodi imposter, but that doesn’t mean one doesn’t exist.
Thanks for replying. I wondered about that too. I made sure it was the correct Downloader. Turns out the built in browser silently downloads and installs two fake apps, Locket and Google text extractor. They are responsible for the ads. I’ve uninstalled them only to find them back the next day. I’ve removed permissions on just about everything to no avail. I’d like to do a clean install of Android but based on my research so far it seems that there are no ROMs available for this tablet. If anyone has any suggestions I’m open to them.
A quote from Troy in another thread…
"Hello, uninstall all Downloader apps that you have on your device then open Google Play Store and install Downloader by AFTV News…not the Downloader for TV.
