Hey guys, is there any way to remap the Netflix button on 2019 shield remotes to be a mouse toggle?
I’ve tried a few apps, and can change its action, but can’t find a solution that allows me to make it a mouse toggle.
Tia!

I am not sure you can make it a mouse toggle but you can assign an app.
First enable your Button mapper go to, Settings>>Device Preferences>>Accessibility>>Button Mapper>>enable>>Configuration>>Add Buttons>>Add Buttons (again)>>Press and Hold Netflix button on your remote>>scroll down to the button you just selected and click on it>>Enable Customize>>Choose the command (Single Tap, Double Tap, Long Press)>> scroll down to whichever app you wish to assign to the Netflix button>>Now you can back out and go to your home page to test out your new button.
Miki, first how in the world do you know that?? Secondly, is there a way to have the Netflix button inactive? I’m tried of accidentally touching it when I pick up the remote.
Just so you know your not alone
I’m left handed, I get YouTube when my thumb hits the button. Fortunately I disable YouTube because I prefer Smart Tube but it opens an offer to sign up for YouTube TV, took a minute to figure out what was going on.
It was pretty annoying but I kind of have it under control.
Yes. You should be able to assign a function to that button. Not sure how but if I have time I’ll have a look at my Shield settings and see if I can disable it or assign a non existing function to it so that accidentally clicking it will do nothing. As for how I know that, I have literally gone through every setting in the “settings” tab as well as the dev options, and if I didn’t know what a setting was, or what it does ,I looked it up. I am still learning tbh. Everyone does things a bit differently so you’d be surprised at what others do that you may not even have thought about.
Hello @Hawki video coming shortly showing how I do this.
Is there anyway to just disable the Netflix button on the shield? I got so aggravated accidentally hitting it that I just removed the Netflix app as I don’t watch it that much.
Did you Google that?
Which one? The last one was from a post @TXRon posted
I just meant it was pretty easy information to find.
Oh. Yes absolutely.
Thanks for the link…and I always thought that I was the only one having problems with hitting the Netflix button inadvertently! Good to see that I’m not the line idiot…LOL
So funny. I MF that button at least once a day
BTW, forgot to follow up. I followed Miki’s post and it worked flawlessly. Thanks again for posting it.
1 of the primary reasons I added my 2017 Pro Shield to my 100" Hisense TV is I am able to use the Hisense remote on the Shield flawlessly.
But instead of re-mapping a button, since my phone is always close by, I use a bluetooth mouse on it from the phone. Frankly the only reason I need a mouse is to run the Brave Browser which is the superior streaming browser followed by Opera.
But everyone has a favorite for their own reasons & even retired Hats become mired into laziness. For those running the $20 ONN device, the browser named Browse Here is your best option.
I love the Shield TV app on my phone and Tablet. The track pad is amazing. I do prefer the TV BRO browser as I found it simpler to use.
There are newer versions, but this version 1.52 has always worked for me with zero issues and I use it daily.
My issue with the TV Bro browser stems from its inability to eventually overcome aggressive redirects. Browse Here is quirky & frustrating to revert back & change as the player is aggressive to resume but the player quality is the very reason Browse Here is better. Also noted is the ad contained within the player which shows a definite runtime but the player itself is of superior quality & can overcome sandbox restrictions.
