The leader of a popular pirate IPTV service, Flawless TV, has failed in his appeal against an 11-year sentence. In May 2023, five men involved with Flawless TV were sentenced to over 30 years in prison following a private prosecution by the Premier League. Mark Gould, the leader of the operation, received an 11-year custodial…
Yet another IPTV provider going down because of the Premier League! I’ve been thinking why does this not happen in the US with Football? Yes I get it top tier Soccer is the most watched sport around the world compared to American Football. BUT Roger Goodall (NFL Commissioner) obviously knows this is happening to his league as well but you don’t see ANY news of any IPTV companies being shut down because of NFL copyright violations…Is the NFL just such a great marketing and money making machine that they don’t care because they are making so much money? Or is it the laws are much more stricter in the UK and elswhere?
How is the Premier League broadcasted? Do the local clubs get it for free like nfl or does everyone have to pay to watch?
If the latter then i guess every game is a money issue.
The NFL has contracts with each channel too so once the money is paid do they really care? If it was all subscription service i bet the nfl would care more.
Most NFL games are locally broadcast over the free airwaves anyway, so it doesn’t make much sense to go after IPTV services. The NFL is making gobs of money off advertising so why do they care?
Nothing is free when it comes to live English Premier League. Everybody pays and subscriptions fees in the UK are far higher than US. But there is a second, quite draconian, law of a blackout that prevents any live football being shown in England, Scotland or Wales on a Saturday between 2.45pm and 5.15pm. Traditionally in the 1980s and 1990s that made some sense but in the modern world it’s bizarre. It means an Arsenal fan in England can’t legally watch his team (or any other from anywhere in the world) on tv at 3pm on a Saturday but in any other country it’s available to watch. Next weekend here in Scotland it is Celtic v Aberdeen. Both teams have won 7 out of 7 of their league games and are top of the league. But it ain’t going to be on tv because of that wacky outdated law. That’s why iptv is so important to a lot of football fans in the UK. It’s not only money.
Sure I get this point but the landscape has shifted. Now the trend is that more NFL games are being shown on paid streaming Networks. Amazon, Peacock, and this year there will be a playoff game on Netflix. These paid streaming Networks throw tons of money at the NFL because they know just 1 game here or there will bring in added subs
As a MLB fan (Major League Baseball) I totally understand these draconion rules. Years ago before I knew about KODI/IPTV I would pay for the MLB season package so I could watch ALL my favorite team’s (Red Sox) games. The Blackout rules really pissed me off and more and more games were not available due to this…Until I found KODI/IPTV
What they don’t realize as one goes down 10 more pop up, as long as they ask for more money and give less then this goes on.Unfortunately politics bites everybody and the unfairness of the sentencing has some bearing what I don’t know but as long as “we’re not gonna take it” this will go on.
