Xfinity Stream on Walmart 4k Streaming Box

I have a Samsung smart tv and Xfinity, which is using HDMI 4. When on Xfinity to switch source to the Firestick, just hold the home button down on the Firestick remote. To switch back, use the Firestick remote microphone and say HDMI 4. Anyone know of a way to do this on the Walmart box? Now have to use the Samsung remote to change the source.

Give this a try. All you have to do is download and install. Nothing else. It will put an icon link to the Xfinity Stream on your homescreen so you can open it from there. It’s a very small file. Under 1MB.

I haven’t tried this, and have no idea if it will work… just a thing you might could try if you haven’t already… have you tried holding down the microphone button on your Onn remote and saying HDMI 4?

Yes I did, tried it again and doesn’t work, but it did go to the Wamart box when I pressed Home.

Found out how to switch sources. Needed to setup button on the remote. Now button on top right works. When pressed it brings up the source area on the TV and just keep pressing to go to source you want.

I am wondering if anyone knows if you can use the Xfinity Stream app to sign into Cox Contour.
Cox does not have an app for Firestick, ONN etc.
You can load the Cox Contour app on phones and tablets but not on streaming devices.
You cast to Android TV and Google TV
If yoy read you see Cox gets its contour app from Xfinity, they’re the same somehow.
I’d like to somehow use the Xfinity stream app to sign in to my Cox account on Firetick’.
Any thoughts?

I side loaded the latest version of the Xfinity stream app from apkpure. Version 7.3 worked fine but version 7.4.1.6 gives a “serene mirroring isn’t currently supported” message. I turned off cast in the ONN settings system cast setting but that did not help. Any suggestions? I tried going back to version 7.3 but that version insists on updating to 7.4 or later. Any suggestions?

If only the older version 7.3 worked for you, you can go into your Onn Box Settings, then Apps, then Manage Updates and turn off Auto-update

7.3 gives a message to update to 7.4 as soon as it opens. I don’t think it auto updates since it is a side loaded app on the ONN.

Okay. Did a little reading and found out there is a little modding that needs to be done now to make the Xfinity app work for certain Android TV versions. There’s even a different version for Fire TV devices. Anyway, if you wanna try this one for your Onn box, here’s the download link: https://tinyurl.com/xfin7416

And if the icon doesn’t appear up on your homescreen after installing, here’s the companion apk to install afterwards, very small (under 1MB). It makes the Xfinity icon show up and launch from homescreen. https://tinyurl.com/xfinicon

Here’s also the Fire TV version. Some people report this works for them on devices other than Firesticks. This is the mod of the 7.3 version. Can give it a try as well: https://tinyurl.com/xsfire7309

And here’s the homescreen shortcut icon for that one: https://tinyurl.com/ftvicon

xfinity has always been bad about keeping up with their apps. The stream app was in beta for years, might still be :joy:… I noticed this morning it wasnt in the playstore for the shield but is for stock android devices

Yep. They sometimes like to add some code that disables their app from working on devices that have an hdmi port. It does a check for hdmi on install, then says no no if you have it. Doesn’t mind you using it on phones or tablets though.

That did the trick! I can’t thank you enough for the advice. You indicated that you “did a little reading” to find the solution to my problem. I’d like to become more self sufficient in solving my problems. Where did you go to do “a little reading”?

Glad to hear. There’s a place called XDA Forums. Lots of useful info there. Good luck!

I used to go there when I was rooting Samsung and Viewsonic tablets back in the day.
