Hey there sim_bill You understand the limitations of the LG TV. I’ve had an Android TV black box for years and had good luck with it, but now it’s old and out of date. I can’t install any Kodi over 18.9
I was thinking about possibly getting the BuzzTV XRS 4900, but Troypoint’s review mentioned: Doesn’t support the new AV1 video codec
I also have to use a Logitech keyboard for my typing kodi repository, addons, settings, etc… everyone calls me Mrs. Magoo
The Buzz TV unit looks enticing, but I am very happy with the Ugoos AM6 B Plus with open android 9.0 o/s as my primary streaming device. It has a root option switch and all the freedom you could want regarding availability of apps and customization. TV Box Stop has rated this box as their #1 android box for 2021, with benchmark scores 2nd only to Nvidia Shield.
I’m not technically inclined sim_bill so what you were saying about Ugoos AM6 B Plus with open android 9.0 o/s as your primary streaming device which has a root option switch and all the freedom you could want regarding availability of apps and customization sadly goes right over my head
I’m very sorry. I feel like a total dumbell
Never call yourself a dumbell. You’re taking the step to learn and understand, I admire you for that, it takes guts and determination. So just go slow, read up on some of the terms you don’t understand and build on the knowledge you do have. Every one of us were beginners and even though many think ppl like myself have all the answers we don’t. It takes a community to raise a child and sometimes it takes a community to solve a problem. Noone can know everything about streaming and all it entails. From coding to applications what you can learn is limitless. So pull up a chair, grab a drink, get your questions together and above all have fun. Before you know it you’ll be helping others.
Hi Pat…
If yor going economic…
take a look at the TCL line… quality pic 4 cheap
Has Roku but is very “Fogey Friendly”… lol

Thank you so much, Miki
I’ll try and follow your kind words and advice God bless
Me too !
I keep coming back for more
No apologies needed. All of us in this site at one time knew very little about streaming technology and had to learn. That is what makes this site special along with all the special people who impart their acquired knowledge to others.
Hi Sketch, thanks for your reply. I hate to admit this, but what is a TCL line?
It’s a brand of electronics such as TV’s.
You can usually find them at a local Target and Walmart in the US.
Got it Thanks, Sbrowne126
Thanx SB…
& yes Pat low/mid range line of tv’s… i think the 75’ is $698 or so… anyway happy hunting… sketch
I actually purchased a 10" tv thats mounted next to one of my pc monitors and I watch that more than the big screen
Yep, I watch a ton of stuff on my little Fire HD 10 tablet out on the lanai and pool. lol kinda make me wonder why I got that big 75" ? lol
Hi there it’s interesting reading on here I. have started out with a couple of android boxes but progressed to fire sticks as they seem more fluid and stable but maybe that’s because they were off eBay . My question is what about the fire tv it has fire tv os built in can that not just be used the same as a fire stick?
It can, and some actually advertise that they have the firestick built into their TV’s. Here is where the “but” comes in. You have to take the time to look at the TV’s specs. What CPU are they using and what computing capabilities does the TV actually have, and is the added price worth it? The 4K Max can be bought for as little as $35 US, during say “Black Friday” sales. So along comes a whole new technology installed in the Firestick that is superior. The question is, do I buy a whole new TV for say $600 or do I buy a new Stick for $55.
Have fun and STREAM ON.
Yes good point it’s not as if you see the firestick hidden away behind it and so any tv will do , I did contemplate a true android tv also . Only looking into it because I need another tv. Thanks for the reply
