Walmart Onn 4K Pro Review & Guides

Hey @itzme, I ended up giving away a Firestick today…

I have the same attitude. I realize it’s part of the hobby for some to have a custom launcher, but like you said, ten seconds to check my VPN connection and then I’m in. Why fix what ain’t broken? Same for updating to 14…I’ll wait and see what problems surface because it’s working just fine as is.

Lol. O just gave away my last two unopened 4K Max sticks yesterday and tore apart the one I was using and destroyed it. No more programming of Fire OS devices for me.

Yes, I did. The software does not update on its own.

Mine still says Android 12 under “About”.

Check your storage. Make sure you arent at/near capacity.

Also, reset the box. Maybe it just needs to clear out cache etc and it will allow for update.

Storage is fine. I have 2.6 GB free remaining. I have also gone into the system setting for storage and cleared cache. I hesitate to reset the box because I would have to reinstall everything.

All I have installed are Kodi, Sportsfire, Streamfire, Analiti, Downloader, and FX File Explorer. When I first set up the box, I uninstalled Paramount, Disney+, ESPN+, and all the other junk that setup installed on its own.

Sorry i didnt mean reset the box. I meant restart the box.

Well I’m sorry to say I am running out of ideas, there are ways to foul up updates, you haven’t played with any ADB commands?

To be honest I think that’s unlikely, it could be it just hasn’t been made available to that device yet. I would keep checking update, if it fine now there really isn’t a reason to do the update it doesn’t seem that much different.

This is a update on the storage issue, removing the uid 10 user and turning off USB debugging work. As it turned out the USB drive on my Onn 4K with Google TV just happened to brick for no reason, turned out to be bad timing that it happen after the update to 14, I used a different USB stick and all is well again.

I wish I had something clever to say… Oh well.

@Timwort@Miki …You Guys Are Killing Me !!!

@Miki
have you been able to record on the onn box w os14? just curious

I no longer have any ONN devices. I gave them away. Hopefully someone else can pop in and let you know if it works. Good morning @Comtech . Have a great weekend.

There isn’t any reason that it wouldn’t be possible to record using Android, it a software function, not a function of the OS as in it’s not a function of the streaming device.

If you can install an app you can write, storage might be an issue but again a app like Plex allows you to write to there server as does IPTV like Sling, IPTV players like Tivimate can record.

It’s not going to let you record a streaming service but no device will unless the service supports it. That’s mostly around copyright infringement.

There are device’s that will like the Cloner devices.

Unless I misunderstood your question?

Good morning @Timwort . I am not sure I understand some of your comment. TiVimate certainly does allow you to record live streams. Of course you need two connections so you can watch one and record another feed.

I think @Timwort meant not being able to record an official streaming service like Netflix Prime etc.

I kind of thought I’d made a typo but @Miki

I said “can record.”

@Avid08 , now this comment I can see why you made it, however what I was saying is no service let’s you record arbitrarily.

Netflix allows downloads, not from the Onn streaming devices but I can on my phone, the question was about the Onn device with Android 14.

While service will let you download you can only keep the show/movie for a limited time and view it with their software, so your Netflix app for example.

Please understand I am NOT saying in can not be done but you will need something like PlayOn Cloud SVR and I pointed out it’s a software function.

So like I mentioned, it’s a software question.

It was @Comtech asking @Miki but it is a public forum, so I took that as Sure, stick your nose in!

That’s why I mentioned your post is confusing, at least to me. Yes I noticed you said Tivimate can record and then you said it isn’t going to let you record a streaming service and I know that I can record a streaming service that I have on TiVimate. I guess it depends on what you call a streaming service or are you referring to verified vs. unverified? Thanks for the reply.

i mean’t with tivimate? seems android 14 disables the system picker option in tivimate so you can’t select a location for your recordings to external storage…sparkle does it just fine and system picker work’s great on older android os w tivimate…i was just curious if anyone has recorded w tivimate to external storage using os 14?
