it also seems that the pro’s 3.0 port is not backwards compatible like other units?

I just went to Wally world where I live Small Town Central California, I had to return a shield Pro that I just bought. It’s easier to return it to Wally world and would be best buy and the reason I did I’ll speak to that in another post. Anyways get to my point the store has six of the new 4k 0nn boxes
I just went on line to Walmart, and was able to order one. It is scheduled to arrive to me by the 15.

Well we can a little lower than that. I have the black remote/non back lit and my SN is 2405A.

I think you meant the “Premium” Free TV button remote with back lighting as the New remote, right?
I thought the newer remote was without that feature.

Do you like the button in the middle like that? Seems cluncky but that’s just by looking at the pics. And is it really necessary?
I think of the nvidia netflix button when i see it. Which i was able to change to a mute button thankfully.
If you’re referring to the blue button I don’t use it. Star button I have mapped to TiviMate.
They must have been a prototype thing.
The standard remote is what everyone is getting.
I think it was a Fu$ked up Design. They made this Big Button in the middle that said “Free TV” which was next to a Button for “Live TV” - It’s the exact same thing and they probably had trouble with the Backlighting and scrapped it for the remote everyone is getting now.

decided on the new ONN 4K PRO and am not sorry. one thing though, can i turn my Samsung TV on with Google Assistant? what do i have to do to the TV. it is a ten year old tv, maybe i can’t
I can with my Samsung tv and Samsung sound bar. Both around 7 years old.
Set up the onn pro remote to power
on both. Even if they are off they will power on if you ask Google a question. It will also switch to the Onn sceeen if you are watching something else, like cable, so be aware of that.
Give it a try.
I can power both on with the remote button, but the hands free feature will not turn on the tv. Not a deal breaker, this device is superior to my fire cube in many levels

Not sure it will matter but see if you set up the ☆ button to control the source selection helps. Just a thought but no idea if it will work.
Btw, you may want to go to the onn pro thread(s) and ask around.
