The forgotten Android TV streaming device that was ahead of its time

I’m looking to pick up a new ATV BOX I currnetly have buzz tv x5; two ONN 4k’s, and a mecoo k2 og… all still work well but was wondering what is the latest greast bang for your buck using IPTV, Stremio, Youtube No Ad aps etc. prefer gigablast network connection hardwired?

I, too, loved my (new for Christmas) 2019 Sheild Pro, with one exception. It simply refuses to stream from my Synology NAS on my local network. Amazon Firestick and Onn devices stream just fine from the NAS but the Shield crashes after about 1-5 minutes. nVidia thinks its the power supply and said they would send a replacement (still waiting). If I can’t get it to tream from my NAS I’ll be selling it on too!

Well, just looping around to close this issue out. The replacement P/S didn’t change anything. Tried all the “fixes” on Reddit for this apparently common issue, nothing. I even went to Best buy, bought a second Shield Pro and returned it after experiencing the exact same issue with it. Unloaded my Shield on Facebook Marketplace ata loss and substituted an Onn 4k Plus into the system. Everything’s back to normal now.

I am sorry @sktn77a I have been working on so many different projects I overlooked your NAS issues with the Shield. This should be the way you do it but not sure exactly what all you’ve tried.

Select Settings > Device Preferences > Storage > Network storage.

Any network discoverable drives will be located under “Available Network Storage.”

If your NAS is hidden or does not broadcast, you can select “manually add a network storage.”

Thanks Miki: I tried that method but the Shield wouldn’t recognize the storage (said “Storage 0 GB”). Then I did it through Kodi and it linked to the NAS but kept crashing anywhere from 1 minute to 90 minutes into the movie.

In any event, both the firestick and the Onn box connected either way with no issues and life is too short to troubleshoot nVidia’s product deficiencies (their customer support was pretty useless). Onward and upward!

I’m having a problem with the latest shield software update (yesterday).

Now, when I scroll over to “Apps” on the top ribbon, only about half of my downloaded apps are listed. Similarly, on my home screen, half of my favorite apps have disappeared, including Kodi. To launch Kodi now, I need to scroll over to Settings > Apps > Kodi > launch

Very annoying. Is this the first step to disallowing non-playstore apps?
