Text on video files played back on Kodi

Hi all: I have a lot of video files (movies, TV shows) on my NAS that play fine on my computer but when I play them on Kodi over the firestick, the dialog appears as text on the bottom of the screen. I’ve hunted around the Kodi settings but haven’t been able to find anything to turn this off. I figured it was just on the video itself, but it doesn’t appear when the video is played back in the computer (windows movie and TV player, windows media player).

Any ideas?

Sounds like it may be a sub title setting. I don’t use kodi but this does happen in a few apps. Might check out subtitle settings.

Thanks. Couldn’t find any subtitle settings in the system menu. No subtitle (srt) files in the movie folders.
