@Miki To the best of may ability I did. I added PM + TB, tweaked resolutions, maxed size at 20MB and unchecked “show personal download catalog”. I should be set. I installed and it works. I moved it up to the top of the add ons by Duck.

Please don’t be afraid to ask if you wonder what a section does. You know I’ll help the best I can. Yes Sootio outside DuckStreams works better. For some odd reason you can’t get at it’s full config in Duck. Works better by itself. Enjoy my friend.

I can’t stress enough how much frustration using Stremio causes. Yes, I have debrid services connected. Yes, I have configured all the add-ons. Yes, I have followed all of Troys suggestions. It is just a crappy app that cannot be relied upon to work every time I select a movie, tv show, or live TV. Most of the time, I have to spend 5 minutes finding a torrent that actually loads. Half the time there is no sound. Sometimes they are in a different language. Sometimes they are not even the show I requested. Most of the time they take several minutes to load. We were told they do not buffer upon loading. BS to that. Sometimes the show just goes black. There is just so many issues that I am forced to give up on it and find a better solution. There are tons of apk’s that show movies and tv shows. I would like to find a reliable source for LIVE tv. I dont mind paying. Any suggestions?

I haven’t a clue why you are having so much trouble This sounds like the issue that happened several months ago. It wasn’t the App it was a corrupt cloud storage server leaf. I have absolutely no problems with Stremio at all, although I mostly use Nuvio now due to the more active development as well as the improved features. So I have 2 recommendations. The first is to throw away your present Stremio account and start from scratch with an entirely new account as you should definitely not be having that many issues. The second is to give Nuvio a try. When my Stremio cloud storage became corrupt I also experienced many similar issues like you are having and literally spent 2 days and nearly 15 hrs trying to fix it. No luck. Then I deleted my account, created an entire new account and configured it from scratch which took me less than an hour, and I haven’t had any problems since.

I’m getting a parsing error when trying to install Stremio from downloader app. It will download but immediately get parsing error.

This is on a 3rd firestick. I was able to get Stremio running with no problem on all my other firestick devices.

Any suggestions?

If it is 1st gen Firestick, Stremio doesn’t work on it from what I remember.

Me too. It’s my chief issue. And also the subtitles not syncing with video or audio. Sometimes I can’t get audio at all.

I’ve been using AI to troubleshoot with varying degrees of success.

Here’s what I’ve done… go to settings on my fire stick. Applications. Stremio. Force stop. Clear cache.

Back to stremio app. Stremio settings. Playback. Change your a different player. Right now I’m using Just Player. Seems ok.

If anyone has any better ideas I’d love to hear them. I love stremio and I’m getting great addins sorted but the syncing issues with video/audio/subtitles and no audio at all are a turn off.

This may be affecting you, maybe not, but it’s sure to not get any betterAmazon is actively blocking sideloaded apps on Fire TV devices, including Stremio, as part of a global anti-piracy crackdown that began in November 2025. While Stremio is a legitimate media player, Amazon uses the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) blacklist to identify and block apps that facilitate access to pirated content, often resulting in the app being disabled or “bricked” locally on the device.

Current Status and Device Differences:

  • Vega OS Devices: The new Fire TV Stick 4K Select runs on Linux-based Vega OS, which does not support sideloading APKs at all, making Stremio installation impossible on this hardware.

  • Fire OS Devices: Older devices running Fire OS (like the 4K Max) still allow sideloading, but Amazon is progressively blocking flagged apps via software updates. Users report Stremio stopping playback or disappearing from the device following these updates

Users are increasingly advised to switch to Android TV/Google TV devices (such as the Onn 4K Plus or Nvidia Shield, or others that are available), which are not subject to Amazon’s specific sideloading restrictions and offer better long-term compatibility with Stremio.

Hi. Thankyou. Yes I’m already all over this. I use launch manager and projectivy as Troy outlined in a video. Works perfectly. So that’s all done.

Apparently a new stremio update today. maybe yesterday. The settings are all different. When I try to use an external player (mx player) i get action required To play content in an external player without interruption, the server must run in background. I click confirm the server status says online and run in background is checked.I try to click back.. to exit menu.. get same error. Am i missing something?

Not at all sure why. I did the update and all I had to do was relog back in and I’m am still using Just Player and MX Player Pro without issue. Haven’t tried their new 3rd player MPV yet. Just tried it on my Pixel tab. Set the player to external and I have Just player installed. Started something up and Just played it without issue

I did a fresh stremio install on a new box. thats where the trouble began. old box works fine

What’s the new box? I just tried it on my Pixel tab, Samsung tab and Buzz P6L. All worked perfectly. I did have to log back in after updating each to the latest Stremio.

ONN. i installed stremio, the did the qr code. tried changing settings, player.. thats where yhe problem is. I can use VLC and it plays fine.. well on one show at least

Try the new player MPV I think it is.

tried a couple of torrents. they all played fine. looks like i will stick with that one. thanks miki

my box 2017 nvidia shield using just player. i installed playstore update, reloged back in and like you i selected external player. i got the same message about server running in background. is this something new or has this always been the way but stremio never told us? i clicked cancel and then clicked external to try to change it back to exo player. i had to hold the center button down and use my other hand to click to the up arrow to get it to exo. tried exo and show played as should. do we need to be concerned about the server running in background? i’ve never seen this message before. thanks
