What do you guys and gals think of a lawsuit brought by Attorney General, Ken Paxton of Texas against Samsung, LG and Hisense alleging that they are taking snap shots of what we do on our Smart TV’s up to 7,200 an hour and then selling that information. It could cause a lot of issues.Hopefully the tech savvy people will advise their sage insight. I have a LG and this pisses me off, it’s worse than Amazon.

You think it’s only limited to tvs? Everything we consume is out there for sale, even your phone that you use daily.

@MaverickCoast It so sad, but nowadays it’s true. Police have actually used the recordings to prove probable cause to arrest for domestic violence & other crimes.

Been here awhile and always wonder why most on this forum are generally paranoid about the gov’t, business and just in general that something or someone is always watching them. The posts about VPN’s, paying for email that masks who you are and refusing to have to give your identity to sign up for anything. Is it just the nature that most of us are doing things that are not legal?
I guess I’m the oddball. I don’t use a VPN, I use Gmail, I love Google and have zero concerns IF anyone is watching me. I just don’t care.

Big A, I don’t believe it is. Has to be those cheap little hockey puck thingys. Cheaper the better.
There are a few things I do to limit any outside surveillance or spying on my smart tvs. 1) limit or eliminate any manufacturer firmware updates beyond those that are absolutely necessary, 2) eliminate all direct wi-fi or wired internet connections to my TVs, 3) don’t use any camera, camera apps, Siri or Alexa on my TVs.
To stop your new smart TV from tracking and collecting your data, you should immediately turn off Automatic Content Recognition (ACR), disable personalized advertising, and switch off voice recognition. These features monitor what you watch and listen to, and share that data with advertisers. [1, 2, 3, 4]n
