Shield storage space

I have a question. I have installed/added a 1TB portable WD SSD to my 2017 Nvidia shield tv device. But, I keep getting these pop up messages about Shield storage space being critically low. Why!? It’s VERY annoying and my question is… How do I get rid of these? And how do I get shield to recognize or use that extra storage, because I’ve already selected to have it used as storage. Also, I have read that one must individually select the storage desired by going into the apps to make that selection, but that didn’t work. Instead, I got a second message saying there is insufficient space on the WD, not allowing the move to be completed

I also have Shield memory issues. After the recent Shield factory update I can no longer designate different storage locations.
