Should have read up on that before buying this… Keep it, but if you want to sideload you will need something els.
I have so much to learn. Thanks
USS ROKU…
According to Luke at Cord Cutters News, Roku gets 50% (half) of all streaming advertising money, Roku earns $56 per device on subscriptions and prior to offering their own TV Brand, controlled 1/3 of all new TV sales. There is a reason.
I use a Techole Bi-Direction Switch and pair my Roku with Android TV (Nvidia Pro), or you could just switch the HDMI cord. With all the verified apps running on Roku, the Nvidia has fewer apps and runs so smooth. It’s the best of BOTH worlds.
If you’re not in financial crisis, keep the Roku!
LOL, nah, my Nvidias are more than capable. Don’t need any Roku. Programmed one for a couple in my condo complex and will never try that again. wasted a bunch of time. I think they ended up getting a FS…not sure?
You just turn a Roku on and put in your email. Done
PF, how’d ya get the Roku Channel on that Nvidia?
Any app you want on the main screen, just click on it, then click install
If more and new information is not for you, no biggie. I have Nvidia and TiVo and Amazon. Roku has 70 million active users. I wanted to know why. $29.99 for a Roku Streaming 4K Plus answered the question for me. I’m glad I have a Roku. I like it and the wife loves it. Nuff said
If I can plug in two HDMIs I would be able to simply change my Input source from the remote rather than getting up off my lazy butt to make the switch.
Most TVs have multiple HDMI ports. So YES you can switch ports using your TV remote and not move anything but your finger…LOL
No, I didn’t put Roku on my Nvidia. I tried sideloading stuff for a couple on their Roku. I remember I finally did get Cinema HD loaded. I think, but not sure that was about 6-7 years ago. The only reason I remember that was because he liked the movie The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly and I tested it for him. However, I remember it being a big hassle to do it and didn’t like it at all.
You do as you please. It’s a free country…so far. I just don’t care for the Roku device and would really never consider getting one. Especially, since there are so many quality Android devices out there and the Nvidia Pro is by far the best.
Btw, I was able to download the app and even make an account, but that is as far as I could get without actually having the Roku device. I think at one time the app was supported because I get popup stating that the app is no longer supported.
However, I do believe someone out there had am3u for Roku but can’t remember. I will look in my files later on to see if a m3u does exist.
Did a brief check of about a half dozen sites and couldn’t find any. Besides, what exactly, as far as content, does the Roku channel offer that is solely unique to Roku?
Btw, I rarely use my smart Tv as a streaming device. My Nvidia is far superior to any smart TV as of yet. So anything that is on a smart TV I can put on my Nvidia. As far as the Roku is concerned. Whatever program they can play I am certain my Nvidia can play, too.
I am not a “techie” person. I buy devices to Watch movies, TV series and sports. Most “techies” concede Roku is the easiest device to operate with a superior search feature. You need this as there are literally thousands of programs unique to Roku.
You don’t NEED Roku, it’s just fun for me to spend my time watching stuff, as in nothing “techie”. In fact, you don’t NEED Nvidia, but I’m glad I own one and use it often.
The fun part of this hobby is watching entertainment and Roku greatly expands/enhances that experience for me, with thousands of unique programs and movies.
Most importantly, I’ve got $30
I had an m3u8 for Roku at one time, but not any more. I prefer going straight to my paid iptv subs. I don’t do “closed” systems like Roku, and being limited to just 4000 apps is to restricting for me.
Very restricted, cant put on kodi, syncler, weyd, stremio the best apps.
Well, what does Roku offer that a Nvidia can’t get?
a cheaper way to a tv. My tv is a tcl roku, works fine. I never use the roku part but the tv is great with 4 hdmi inputs. I often tell those who are very tech challenged to get a roku because I can tell by talking to them I might be on the phone too much with them getting anything else …
… and I thought I was the only one with a TCL Roku tv! It was the best priced 65" I could find at the time. Don’t use the Roku part either. Firestick to Denon a/v receiver to surround speakers/TCL tv.
