Removing Google TV Set up

Somehow Setu up for google tv for wifi access has prevented me from getting to my apps. How do I remove this? Thank you in advance

Gene

I am sorry but I don’t quite understand what you mean. Could you explain a bit more as to what you are doing or did and why? For example, are you just using your TV and not a Streaming device? Where are thes apps loaded? Have you turned off the WiFi on your TV to see if app access is restored? I am not sure how WiFi setup has anything to do with app access as apps are not accessed via WiFi.

I have an Onn Box and set it up with Troy instructions. I deleated the google play store to protect the box. But I wanted to add a browser so I tried to get the Google Play store loaded again. That caused google tv to take over the onn box. I kept trying to remove it but instead now it shows a page about signing in to google tv or cancel. If I hit cancel it goes to a wifi page and shows it is off.

I toggle to on and when I return the other choice is to sign on. It says I have no internet connection. So I return to cancel and see the toggle for wifi is turned off again . IF a reset the toggle and turn off the power when I turn it back on it goes to tv mate (catchon) and it works. If I hit the tv remote button it takes me to all my loaded apps. but when I hit home the Google page returns.

You don’t need to delete the google playstore, you just need to turn off Google Play Protect. At this point and as I am not entirely sure what you have done, my recommendation is for you to do a factory reset for the On and start over.

1:Hold reset button on back of box for 5 seconds

2:unplug the device

3 still holding reset for 10 seconds

4: stiil hold the reset plug the box back in.

Use the reset button to scroll through the listed options

Press and hold to initiate the command

After the reset you may want to try the following:
A) To turn off Play Protect on an ONN box, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, select “Play Protect,” then access the settings and toggle off the “Scan apps with Play Protect” option.
B) (but I would do this FIRST): View, Read and Study Troy’s Instructions on How to Disable Play Protect on Android TV & Google TV
It takes some effort to be a pro like @Miki but keep practicing and keep us apprised of your progress!

To add further to what @Reece has said, while in those settings I also turn off auto updates. It will still display that apps have available updates when you check, but it will not install them automatically. I prefer to have as much control as possible and choose to install updates manually.
