Recommendations for a first timer

Looking for a recommendation for an easy to use all in one streaming box. Will be used for movies, tv stations from anywhere hopefully. (Sporting events out of my area) PPV ect. I’m not a big gamer so Not as important to be able to game. Also recommendation of an IP scrambler/blocker can’t recall what these services are called. Hopefully a service that works well with the TV box of choice. Assume price is no concern. Would like all opinions. I had I believe stealthbox years ago. It was a pain in the ass and rarely worked correctly. As you can probably tell I am very green in this area. So ease of use is important. Really appreciate any reply. J

Welcome aboard! If you use the search function you can find pretty much anything in relation to streaming hardware, VPN’s etc. So many great people here as well. Search some things up and if you have any questions related to your search, ask away! This is where I started to learn and now it’s become a great and fun hobby. Enjoy your stay!!

Me cool km2 is a good box at a decent price on Amazon. I believe it is around $119.00
Bought one a few months ago. I have other more expensive boxes, the me cool works just as well.

I use a Mecool KM2, Nvidia Shield Pro and Formuler Z10 Pro Max. If Netflix is important, be sure the box is Netflix certified. The Troypoint category has plenty of reviews on boxes, services and VPN’s. Kind of like a one stop read. Good luck!

Have 2 T95 Boxes going strong 5+ years. Never shut them off, no over heating, no issues in general other than the occaisional reboot every now and then

It sounds as if un-verified iptv is the direction of travel and I would like to throw in the mix the mecool km6, formuler , BuzzTV and Ugoos boxes.

edit…and of course the shield for everything :alien:

Meecool and T95 seem to be popular choices. 5 years no real issues sounds good. Reliability isn’t a bad thing. How about the interface? Could kids scroll through and easily pick shows to watch?

I think you may be right on the IPTV directions. Sound like this may be what we use the box for most of the time. I appreciate the recommendations. I’ll spend some time reading up on buzz tv, km6 and Ugoos

There are tons of devices to choose from. There’s something for every budget and what specs may be of interest to you. Like VPN’s, everyone has their preference. I like to have something different to play with when I’m considering a new box. I may not need one (you can confirm that with my Wife lol) but it’s just me

Don’t do it. Run for the hills. No good can come from cutting the cord. lol.
Honestly though, the amazing part of this hobby is it’s diversity of options, from the $20 ONN to the top line ugoos x5, Nvidia Shield and others, we have options. From there it’s just about what you use it for. Do you prefer FireTV, AndroidTV/GoogleTV, Roku and so on. You can pretty much take any streaming device on the market today, and have it work for what you want. Troy has posts about this, and new devices are coming on line almost daily. Members here like @TXRon have gone even deeper and know a great deal about things like CPUs and GPUs. That’s what makes this forum so helpful is the diverse nature of our individual skills. It’s my opinion that you set an exact amount of money you want to spend. Look for at least 4GB of RAM and 64GBs of ROM, then do an online search for a NAME brand device that meets those parameters, and then ask here if anyone uses it and you can also read some reviews. Welcome to Troys little cord cutting corner.
Have fun and STREAM ON!!

Thanks for the Nvidia recommendation. I am familiar with this brand (name) more so than some of the others. Seems a though the Nvidia makes top pic on most lists. 4GB ram and 64Gb Rom seem to be the recommended specs. Any concern with the Nvidia not meeting these specs?

Picking shows to watch would mean going thru an IPTV player…otherwise it would depend more on the apps as far as the user interface. IMO…the kids will find there way around in any box you pick. If you will be using an IPTV service…then I would suggest Tivimate as your player…just put it in the search box above & read…there you will see its popularity & quality & low price.
