Onn Box Log in or out

Anyone find a way to log out of your google account and not reset the device?

Go into settings>Accounts & sign-in. Move over to your account name, move over again and at the bottom is a “Remove” button. I just did this and you will now have to add another account info. Everything that I had done under previous account was still there. You also have the option to add an account, guess you could do that and then remove the other account. I did not do it that way so that is only a guess. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply and it appears as I suspected. Google slight of hand wants you connected all the time so tracking will not be interupted all in the name of “enhancement”. I consider this a big thumbs down on an otherwise great little box. Just my 2 cents. :-1: :skull: :eyes:

You could disable the Play Store and see if that gets rid of the nag. If you need to download anything through it you’re gonna have to log back in anyway.

People that think everyone is tracking them all the time so they can insert spookware into their box will naturally be paranoid about being logged in to anything. But a benefit is that perhaps you have a Youtube account or maybe use YouTube TV. All your videos, channels, etc are right there

you cant detach from the box without factory reset

You can’t disable Play Store through the Apps section like in a Mecool box for example?

If you knew any better you wouldnt comment on something you think is fake when its the actual buisness model of the company.

I buil;d boxes for others with my account, then normally I detach myself and hand it over, now I cant. I need to new owners creds or will have to sit with them to set it up.

Where did I say it was fake? LOL I’m quite aware of these companies knowing and tracking your online behavior. Was more commenting on the amount of nervous nellie’s in this forum thinking the Boogeyman is out to get them

I knew the nerveous nellie would appear as it does when you interject into a thread and other than offer actual constructive help. As ive mentioned before you have made it totally clear that you could care less about security etc…and thats fine but my issue with this box is tranfer of ownership and on a side note that transfer is not as easy as it once was due to googles need to be connected.

that song was way before its time :+1:

I have a solution for you. It’s gonna take you a little more time setting up initially, but it will suffice as a workaround. When first setting up the Onn and it takes you to the screen for you to login with your email/gmail, underneath that box is the option to create a new account. Do that. It takes a couple of minutes and you can click skip on the part where it asks for your phone number. But yeah, just make a new gmail account and then give the password to the person you’re fixing up the box for. (I just tried this on a new Onn box to make sure it would work before I typed all this out, lol)

Thanks, yea ive considerd this and most likely what I will do :+1:

Keep in mind that if you set a box up under gmail#1 and sign out and into newGmail#2 that google is well aware that both are one in the same. Each box is identified by google and the transfer is not transparant. In the past it was a simple log out, remove account and give to the new user. Its not a big deal I just like removing myself completely from a box.

I understand where you’re coming from. If I give a box to someone else I dont want any remnants or hints of relations to my account on their box.

Maybe Troy is reading this and has a voodoo magic spell to release the box :joy:  :eyes:

I noticed that as well I wasn’t real pleased with them wanting you to sign back in. But you can run it without signing in.
