Omnifiber Fiber Optic Internet

Where are you. I’m the great white north outside e Edmonton .I have telus hub 50$a month endless data,2 phones on koodo for 95 a month.and north i use i use the mini starling foe 110 a month for 300 go.

I went through a similar situation about 6 months ago. I had been a Spectrum customer for 34 years. All I had was just their internet service (600/20) and was paying $95/month. I live in the country where there was no other provider other than DSL (exremely slow and unreliable). To my surprise on day I saw workmen installing fiber optic cabling on my road. I went out to talk with the men and they said they were installing Frontier Fiber (Verizon had recently purchased Frontier Communications). As soon as it became available, I signed up for it. I’m now paying $50/month for 1gig up & down. Although it came with a mesh router, I’m using my own router. I’m very happy with my new ISP.

This is only with the mini.whick i have.78 $ a month for 100 gb.just change it to 110 $a month for 300 gb.when streaming a TV.100 gb.is not enough. Or 178$for endless.i think the home one is about 150 a month

After years of being chained to Spectrum and their increases, the city allowed two fiber companies to lay the fiber throughout the city. Now, with competition I switch between Brightspeed and T Mobile Fiber - currently paying $59/mo for 2 gig. They both offer gift cards if you switch - I’ve switched twice and have racked up $700 in gift cards. Gotta love competition!

soundz like you got it going on :+1:  there @Mikey869 …please share how the services perform for you…and the gift cards, they are good to use anywhere or tied to the service that issued them?..

I have been stuck with Rectum…hmmm.. I mean Spectrum for many years. We finally had Clearwave Fiber run lines through our neighborhood. Maybe one day they will actually start connecting to homes, it’s been a year now and no connections.

Any comments on the reliability of T-Mobile 5G wireless home internet? I have heard mixed things about reliability-buffering for streaming, but that was about a year ago. It would be nice to eliminate wires and move the router close to the TV, for instance.

The reliability of the T-mobile 5G gateway will depend on your proximity to a cell tower. I live in Tampa and have good location to towers. I easily average 200+ down depending on time of day. Its been working well for me.

@SMF , T-Mobile Internet had a 30 day return policy…no questions asked…when I started with them, not sure if itz still offered, but that would be the best way to check your specific location for speeds and reliability… I’ve been happy with them for several years…

Reminds me of when I was in Canada and a Bell salesperson knocked on my door offering me Fibe internet. I asked if it was fiber to the house several times before they finally admitted it was fiber to me local switch. So then I asked if it was antique twisted wire to the house and eventually they said yes. I suggested they come back when they had 21st century technology.

I’m in the Philippines now and I have genuine fiber to the house, 300 MBS for approximately $50 a month. My current download speed is 225 and upload is 250. The supplied modem/router is free but I also use two additional routers. We have a bunch of devices, phones, tablets, laptops, TVs and boxes. All run with no problems. I use MAC address filtering to keep everything safe.

I have AT&T fiber. VPN works fine. The coax modem that I own and used for years will not work with fiber. Not sure if they sell fiber modems or not. I just use the one the provided with their service. It has a built-in router that works well for me.

My parents have it. It will not work for any intense gaming. Has latency issues. It works fine for online shopping, web browsing, emails, and most streaming, although you could experience some lag during peak usage times. FYI- I have T-Mobile phone service. Their data seems to be lagging lately. I am wondering if these 5G internet subscriptions are affecting their phone service now.

For fiber you should have an ORT supplied by your ISP and it has ports that accept an ethernet or cat 5 cable that does plug into your router. So the ORT translates the optical (light) signal into the digital signal that all our streaming devices and peripherals use.

Very happy with the T Mobile Fiber also. Wish I got your price however.. There offer was 70/month Life Time with no future price increases 2 gig down, 1 gig up. Who could pass that up even if it don’t pan out. We will see..
