I’m still afraid to update due to all the negative feedback on the other forums. Breaking the audio is the big one for me. Also wondering if the 4k DRM playback security update is some kind of lockdown? I’ll wait a few weeks to see what happens.
I went ahead and updated my Shield Pro. I’ve seen no difference with the update. But, I really only stream with Kodi…no recording, gaming or anything fancy. Just the basics for me.
That’s all well and nice, but it’s time for some new hardware. I tried out the BuzzTV X5 as a hopeful upgrade but was disappointed. C’mon, Nvidia, get your act together!
My Shield is a 2017 Pro, the only “upgrade” I noticed is the ability to control the Shield with the Hisense 100" TV remote. But mine is only an expensive streaming device, game remote was never used & never cared for the shield remote although I use a phone app for the keyboard & a mouse since the browser I use is Brave.
Has anyone updated their Nvidia Shield to 9.2.1?
Any issues with the update?
I did the update a few hours ago with no real issues. It hung for a bit mid install then did a few random reboots for no reason a few minutes after installing. I then left it for 10mins and it’s working fine now.
Ditto here - sans random reboots for no reason - Mine downloaded and installed with nary a hitch - Still loving the shield over here at the “Casa el Debto” ![]()
I purchased a Nvidia Shield Pro a few years ago and i’m very happy. Yesterday I was greeted with a notice to upgrade to 9.2. So I did.
My question is: Are we supposed to upgrade the Android software version also, or does this Nvidia 9.2 upgrade cover that?
The Nvidia Shield Pro upgrades cover everything under one blanket upgrade.
V9.2.2 Now Available
This does seem to have fixed the audio dropout some people were experiencing. Good on Nvidia for continuing to support. The Shield is like the Energizer Bunny; it just keeps going.
Hi All does this update cure intermittant no remote response for 30 seconds or so.
@billthesage I’ve never had this issue, as I recall. and I don’t recall anyone reporting the remote response issue.
Here is a copy of the update info from Nvidia.

I haven’t done any updates on my main Shield but have had the issue with intermittent no response from remote for several months now on my two Shields. I’m glad to know i’m not the only one having the issue. I thought i needed a replacement.
The update doesn’t seem to address the issue so i’ll hold off for now!
I am getting the same issue. the remote has an intermittent 3 or 4 second delay.
Since I updated, TiviMate and Stremio both seem to work. What is not working is Aniliti. The speed test portion doesn’t work. Can anyone recommend an app I can get for the play store to replace it?
Hello, you may want to try the Analiti version we have in the Toolbox. It’s the premium mod release.
Thank you …………….
After updating to 9.2.2 I do not have any of my apps from a external drive in my favorites.
I am also unable to add them.
I can access them from Settings / Apps / See All Apps.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Have you found a way to add the external stored apps to favorites?
A Firefox search brought this up.
The NVIDIA Shield’s recent updates, particularly version 9.2.2, have caused issues with adding favorites from external drives, as it may not properly scan for new paths or folders. Users have reported that the app crashes or fails to recognize the external storage correctly.
