New Walmart Onn 4K Plus Now Available at Select Stores

Onn 4K Pro, the elusive new streamer from Walmart:

Hopefully, a review is coming, something like Onn 4K Plus vs. Onn 4K Pro.

This will likely get moved to:

It will be cool to see this get released, but I’m just not sure how necessary it is to have a mid-level Onn streamer. The Onn 4k boxes are great for the price, and the Pro is great for a little higher end needs. The price on both is super affordable, not really a need to get a price in between $20 and $50, is there? Just my opinion lol.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Chromecast with Google TV Update

I have the ONN 4K Pro Box and haven’t seen any updates in months so don’t think this will affect the ONN boxes

The links to Walmart here don’t work, but I don’t think I’ll be investing in one of these because it’s a real disappointment in re: to less RAM and storage. I really like my Plus and use it for Plex and Tivimate. I don’t understand why Walmart has chosen to downgrade their box rather than upgrade it.

Can you set your VPN to a USA site and get the USA menu and programming along with the google free play app that disappears if you’re on a Canadian server? I’m thinking the OS is modified for Canada and self modifies just by the server you connect to.

It sounds like it has the potential to have the best performance of all the Onn boxes. It certainly has the best processor. The question remains as to how it is utilized.
I’m definitely going to pull the trigger on one. You always have 30 days to return it if you don’t like it.

It works fine in Canada.I didn’t set no VPN to the States at all.

Yes it would work fine but I was talking about a really good function and app that is almost 100% not in the Canadian version by the very token just using a VPN that is not the USA makes the GUI and App dissappear. You probably havent seen it, but all Americans and other countries that have the USA one, would. I think you misunderstood what I was saying.

The original pro was fine originally too until they released an update that bricked the box if being used outside the US. They could well do the same with this new one in future.

The pro from the US works just fine but you get more features using a USA VPN, My friends and I have 8 of them. All perfect. It doesn’t care about a CDN vpn or not.

You’re probably not missing anything. You would have the same screen and google free play app that I do. The tv stations with many categories that I have. In Canada, or using a Canadian VPN or just router, you do not get that. You get something like pluto trending programs. I should take a pic of the screen at some point so the ones that don’t can see the difference. You’re not understanding my post.

Walmart sent me an ad with a picture of the Onn 4k Plus as part of a electronics sale, it wasn’t listed as a sales item but I checked the store out of curiosity and they are in stock in Northwest Indiana so that probably means almost everywhere.

I’m pretty flush with streamers so not on my shopping list.

Greetings everyone, I picked up one of these a few days ago and am totally blown away by the performance. With Tivimate loaded and using an IPTV provider that allows for 5 simultaneous streams you can reliably do simultaneous recordings (my storage is a networked SMB drive). Previously this was not reliable on an Amazon 4K Max. Tuning is near instant if you have gig ethernet and a decent IPTV provider, and color - bright and vivid. This is my first Google TV device so being familiar with the Amazon FS interface, the Google offering takes a little getting used to. Having a built in ethernet and usb3 is a big plus - no need for an On-the-go adapter or a U-Green interface stick. In my humble opinion this device is a great deal.

Just be aware the Ethernet is 10/100, not gigabit. You’ll likely get faster speeds via wifi.

True but if you want to be hard wired and are only using for streaming, 100 is more than enough.
