A new update to popular MECOOL devices is bringing the Android 14 Operating System to the Km2, KM2 Plus Deluxe, and more. The company announced the rollout in a press release back in September of this year, however, it was a slow rollout that is just now arriving to the majority of devices. The KM2…
My MeCool KM7+ updated to Android 14 and it is a worthless piece of junk now. Kodi will not work anymore. The audio constantly cuts out (no matter what you are watching) for a split second. Sometimes 20-30 times in a few minutes. I installed Stremio since Kodi would no longer work after the update, and the audio problem continues. Another problem is the box now restarts itself whenever it feels like. Sometimes several times a day, and sometimes just once a week or so. I finally got fed up and bought a Onn 4K Pro and got back to streaming problem free and junked the MeCool. Kodi works fine on the Onn 4K Pro, so it is a MeCool problem with Android 14.
In Stremio try the tunneled playback option in the settings and see if that helps the sound drop out.
Appreciate the tip Miki, but I no longer use the MeCool. I use the Onn 4K Pro with no problems at all.
Another strike against MeCool. For the reasons expressed above, they should just leave the existing O/S alone. Some of these streaming device manufacturers need to get over their mistake of thinking the newest version of android is the best, ![]()

I agree. I made a huge mistake and updated my Tab to Android 16 and that totally corrupted my Stremio and as all my devices were synced to that Stremio account it resulted in me having to delete my existing account and start from scratch. Including having to log into stremio web to add the json files for addons I wanted. Felt like a rookie lol.
Does Onn have a Uk charge and can it plug into router or does it need wifi to work. Replsving firestick.
It has an ethernet port for wired internet. It does not include a UK charging cord. You would have to have an adaptor.
Tunneled playback option also fixed stuttering
I’m wondering if the new ONN 4K Plus (also Android 14) will have the same issues… it is cheaper than the Pro.. unfortunately just the Pro is available in my area… but more expensive. I see Troy reviewed it but not sure what apps he tried.
I can only say what I have experienced myself. I have not heard of any Onn android box having issues with using their operating system with Android 14. I, myself, found the Onn 4K Pro very reasonably priced. $44.95 here in the US on sale at Walmart. I have Tivimate with my IPTV service installed, Kodi with the Umbrella and Elementum addons installed, Stremio with the Bootstrapper addons installed, IP Vanish VPN installed, and Analiti speed test app installed. If you want to install apps not approved by Google or the Play Protect stuff, you have to enable Developer options and turn off Play Protect. I can’t tell you more because this is all I have experience with.
My mecool km2 deluxe plus has also received the android 14 update and now I am unable to use kodi. Everything else works fine. I hope mecool will issue a patch for this problem.
I had put my KM2 in the drawer a while back. It seemed buggy and had some, what seemed like, software issues that got old. Oddly enough, this Android 14 upgrade seems to have fixed those issues. I also factory reset it before this update, just FYI. I haven’t tried Kodi yet, but will try when I can and report back how/if it works.
I also have the KM2+ Deluxe that was recently updated to Android 14 (from Android 12), and found that Kodi wanted me to allow some permissions (which I did) and then as soon as I hovered over “Add-Ons”, it would crash out to the home screen of the launcher. After much effort to get it to work, I assumed that I had a corrupt file. I deleted Kodi and rebooted, then reinstalled ver 21.2 and installed a couple of Add-Ons. Same behavior! I finally deleted Kodi, cleared cache, rebooted, and then using the Troypoint Toolbox, downloaded and installed Kodi ver 19.5. It worked! I installed a couple of Add-Ons and verified that all was well. At least till the following day. The MECOOL KM2+ Deluxe had updated Kodi to ver 21.2, and it was back to the same behavior. Here is the solution (at least for me). Uninstall Kodi. Go into the Google Playstore App, and click on your avatar (the circle in the upper RH corner), and turn OFF auto updates. Go into the Troypoint Toolbox and download and install Kodi ver 19.5. Install one of your favorite Add-Ons and verify that all is well. Done! I also have a MECOOL KM2 that is running Android 12, and it has no issues with Kodi ver 21.2. This is definitely an Android 14 issue. Good Luck!
This is why I dumped MeCool and will not buy another MeCool product. The Onn 4K Pro performs better than the MeCool ever did. And my Kodi works again!
Great info. Thank you. Can’t wait to try kodi 19.5 tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Do you get the option to refuse the update or is it automatic ?
I have turned of auto updating on my P6L. I only update manually and only what I want updated.
Kodi 19.5 does work on mecool km2 deluxe plus, sort of. Installed umbrella addon, worked great. Installed mad titan sports v2. When I tried to open it, get error message, check log. Frustrating!!! Anyone have a suggestion?
Why are you still on KODI 19? Most Addons are optimized to work on 21 and have been for some time. I suggest going into Troy’s Toolbox and getting the latest KODI version then reinstalling your Addons, RD and Trakt (if you use it)
