Am getting this same error on a recently purchased ONN 4K Plus device {16g|.
This is why I was trying to get away from the Fire Stick. Seems to be a failure now.
Get an error when attempting to download Stremio says it’s an unknown error and to check URL.
Seems the $$$ for the ONN and Surfshark have been wasted.
I’m having the same issue on the Onn 4k Plus and the Firestick. I hope Troy can help with this soon.
If using a VPN try disabling that temporarily and try again. Also, make sure you are using the proper Downloader app by AFTVNews.com. There are multiple Downloader apps in the app store that are scams.

Tried to download the Stremio app with VPN shut off but no joy. Same error msg. Does not seem to connect to the URL driven by the TroyPoint install icon.
Will wait until someone discovers a fix or just try Kodi although I’m too tired and too old to keep chasing Kodi’s monthly challenges.
Try rebooting your streaming device and router. If that doesn’t work, uninstall/reinstall Downloader. The links that we use for Stremio are the direct links for the official Stremio Website.
There is no doubt that this is a network issue on your side as it works for everyone else. Make sure that you don’t have some sort of ad blocker operating on your network as well.
You nailed it! Not the ONN but rebooting the Router fixed it. I keep it up to date with it’s firmware but it seems in the internet world we are always on the edge between success and failure. Thanks for your help. Now back to finishing up with your tutorial
I have used the fire stick for over 5 years. Last month I bought a new Fire TV Stick HD. I tried to jail break the stick, but first I cannot select “ADB debugging” from or APPs from unknown sources" from Developer Options.
SOFTWARE version: OS1.2(2101020054820)

Is there another way to jail break this firestick?
If this is the new Vega OS then you are locked into their architecture and can only add what they allow.
How can I find out if it is a Vega OS? I don’t see it anywhere.

@itzme been using 3 Firesticks as well as 1 TCL Fire TV all are on version 8. Did the fix to prevent updates and such that was post before all that started. been using them since then so far everything has been ok for now

@itzme no worries just got so used to Firesticks and they were very easy to setup and use I do have a 1st Gen ONN just never got around to setting it up Thinking maybe now would be a good time to get familiar with something else. But not sure which way ONN is going with Google not big on change either and yeah I know if you don’t move forward with change you will get left behind or hit a brick wall LOL
Give that Onn device a try. I think you will find, as I did, it’s easy to setup. I still have two of them on my bedroom tv’s. Each of them work great.
@jmaute here is what my firestick shows and shows Fire OS yours is just showing OS so assume that is Vega but not sure I am also on an older version of the Fire OS
