Losing wi-fi signal on Buzz 5 TV box

Hi,

I seem to be having wi-fi “drop outs” on my Buzz box. Every now and then when I test the WiFi speed in the buzz box there is no wi-fi.

Oddly, when I go into the settings on the buzz box one section (WiFi connection sign) says it’s connected, but when I go to the actual wi-fi settings options it says 'not connected".

Now I know for a fact that the WiFi is working fine as I have checked the WiFi on two mobile(cell) phones, a tablet and a laptop and they are all working perfectly with the WiFi

So I’m at a loss as to what is causing this The only way that I can get the WiFi to work again on the buzz box is to take out the power connection at the back of the box and then reconnect it. If I just try to do a normal reboot using the remote and switching it on and off again, that does NOT work, it has to be unplugged and then re plugged to get the WiFi to work again

Helllllllppppppp :+1::grin:

I just did a quick check of their Forums and found nothing. Maybe poke around there some more. Good Luck!

Yup, I’ve been searching as well and can’t seem to find anything, so I’m going to have to get my geeky son to try and seek a solution I think. It’s probably something it settings “somewhere”, lol.

Does this happen right away when the box is turned on or does it take some time after using it to drop? This is going to sound strange but my mind jumped to a bit of overheating by the box (a lot of these types of boxes have good specs but less than stellar cooling systems). Overheating has caused my wifi to drop in and out on multiple devices in the past.

Can’t even imagine your fix. LOL So far mine has been running great with no issues. I’ll have my Formuler Z10 Pro Max tomorrow so I will get that going this weekend. The HDMI splitter you recommended will be here tomorrow as well. Thanks for that!

At that rate you might need to get another splitter headed your way :joy: :cowboy_hat_face:

just to check>>>look in developer options>>>mobile data always active is ON. >>>>Network & Internet>>> WIFI is on(of course) and Scanning always availiable is ON.

I will be interested to hear your review of the Formuler and comparison to the BuzzX5?

Will do. Like I said, so far no issues with X5. With fall & winter coming, I’m planning on doing more with these 2 boxes. I’m the only one who will be using them so I can do as I please. Lol

I have a BuzzTV XRS4500 that had that exact issue one time. I eliminated the Wi-Fi connection on my box using “forget this connection” to my router, then reconnected, signing in again with my password. Have not had any problems since. I think it had something to do with a glitch in my router.

Good tip @sim_bill :+1: I’ve suggested the same thing to past customers (way back when) with positive results. Altho, the technology is higher these days…which just means more things can go wrong

Hopefully, this works for bigivy :crossed_fingers:

I’ve had this similar problem in the past with my x5 but also with a couple other devices. Even though I had download and upload speeds of over 200. After fighting with my isp they found that for some reason I was experiencing an unstable wifi in my tv room. At this point I ran a 50ft ethernet cable and I have not had one single issue with buffering or internet just dropping off.

I was thinking that, I may move the box to somewhere else where there is better air flow.
Thank you

I have done the same and as thus far not drop outs, so I’ll keep you posted :+1::grin:

I ran Ethernet cable to my tv boxes also and agree it is much more stable than Wi-Fi.

I had an Ethernet cable running around the outside of my house, but unfortunately, it got damaged and I’m going to have to get around to rewiring it all again. :unamused:

Suggestion: If running substantial length in/or outside…use Cat 7 or 8…as both are shielded. :cowboy_hat_face:

Ugreen on Amazon makes a good, inexpensive braided ethernet cable…

Hi,

An update, well I’ve tried everything that’s been mentioned here and what I could find on Google, but still getting wifi dropouts, all be it they’re not as bad.

So, I’m going to put another Ethernet cable around the house again [can’t put it through the house because my wife would not be happy, lol].

Thank you to everyone for their suggestions. :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey B…

Might look into sumthin like Powerline, turns electric outlets into Ethernet
Theres also a few threads about it
