Link new firestick with acct when purchasing

I may purchase a new 4k firestick and system asked to link it for easy setup. Is this good to do? Thank you & sure hope I didn’t miss this somewhere.

I purchase them as a gift. I have a seperate account to link my firesticks. I never link them to the account I make purchases from.

I never do that as then only you can use it. What I do is specify it as a gift. Then I can add any Amazon account I choose. I have 4 presently. I can give it to someone or easily add their account and program, the list goes on. Also if you are say a Canadian then your stick will be restricted to the Amazon. ca store and it is no where near as diverse as the .com store. .com being the USA store, home of Amazon.
