Last night sometime, Kodi on all of my firesticks, wiped itself clean. Skin back to default, all addons gone… No, I didn’t “clear data” on my firestick. And the fact that it happened on several devices indicates its a Kodi/Amazon issue.
Nobody else had this happen to them?
Hey there, this probably had to do with the scheduled maintenance. I have encountered numerous issues with the platform in the last week. Kodi Not Working - Scheduled Maintenance Jan. 2026
Thanks Brett. Yes, I saw those posts but it looked like they were just server connection issues rather than wiping out users’ Kodi installations? Anybody else having any issues like this?
Nope. My KODI Build and addons all working on ONN 4K Pro
My Onn Pros are fine too.
Was Kodi the only app that was affected? Were logins or settings deleted on anything else?
My Kodi on my Onn box blew up also!
Dont know if this a kodi (via TP Toolbox) problem, or an umbrella. Brand new ONN 4K box. Is gona be my backup. Installed everything that was on my old box and more. Here is the problem: after install from zip file, then i go thru usual steps: install from repository/umbrella repository/video addons/umbrella/install, then i get the normal list of 5 additional addons. 3 script modules and 1 ip stream are Not Available. Umbrella will not install. Any ideas?
Considering this post is 2 hours old, it may have something to do with the scheduled kodi maintenance. I couldn’t install a certain addon since yesterday because of missing dependencies but just got it going about an hour ago. Try again ![]()
I dont think that Kodi Mirrors being down would do something likethat but I am far from an tech expert.
To me it sounded like a Firestick issue but then @Dtg7 says his Kodi “blew up" (what ever that means) on an Onn so I dont know.
Yeah i know about that but that issue was if you needed to download addons and repos. Kodi was working flawlessly if you had things installed already.
And it doesn’t mention deleting your entire Kodi set up. Its pretty intrusive if Kodi has that power.
Amazon probably has some legal mumbo jumbo that lets them do what ever they want to the FS.
Thank you Big Kodi user. Thought having several add-ons was ok. As long as I wasn’t using them I had them disabled and I guess if they’re disabled wasn’t a drag. I like to have backups cuz you never know when you going to turn around and that add on isn’t working anymore but appreciate your help Thank you for the link
I was specifically replying to @BobW who said he couldn’t get umbrella to install, I wasn’t implying about kodi getting wiped out. Sorry for the confusion.
No problem @PapaS . It just added to the confusion on how this all happened .. lol
I am curious how this happened.
How strange that is. I use Kodi daily and I just used it this evening and all is good. I use Umbrella and Elementum without fail. I would be pissed if I got up tomorrow and they were gone or not working.
Agreed. Still curious if @sktn77a had issues with any other apps on the FS.
Update: was able to install Umbrella on new ONN box. To be clear, this install was on a new box. My older, primary box worked fine. I am a retired (12+ yrs) software developer (25+ yrs) yet without the TP Kingdom i would be lost. Stumbled upon Troy a few years back and i have learned so much from so many posts. Keep it up. Thanks.
I read somewhere last night that Firesticks may delete data on apps if space is needed to perform an update. It wasnt confirmed but was discussed. It was late and I needed sleep so they may have confirmed it. Lol
Could this have been a possibility for you @sktn77a ?
If true, I would guess that the FS would do this to “unauthorized “ apps first.
Anyone else here about this?
No, no similar/related issues with other apps. We went to our vacation home in the next state to do some maintenance work and one of the Kodi installations there was wiped also. “Unload unused apps” is turned off, so I don’t think that was the issue. Still a mystery as a couple of sticks still have the addons and Confluence skin installed but the other half were wiped.
My only other question is how old are the Firesticks and did it only happen to one model or just older/newer ones? Or one software version?
