The tubular Shield was always “iffy” at $150 when the Shield Pro at $200, IMHO. I own both the Shield Pro and ONN Pro. If I owned nothing or wanted an additional device, it would definitely be the ONN Pro.
For $200 I’d be more inclined to look at Ugoos, Formula or Buzz. So if Nvidia wants out of the market, it wouldn’t affect my buying decisions at all. Just my thinking.

I do alot more than just IPTV with my box. I’d buy a newer Formular these days over Nvidia if I could afford a premium box. Theres got to be few more good brands out there still. A box that is not GoogleTV certified is what I prefer right now. True open source Android devices are getting harder to find. They allow anything a phone or tablet or GoogleTV does. Google is trying to stear the market to their more restrictive GoogleTV operating system with their “GoogleTV certification.” GoogleTV crams bloatware system apps on their customers too. Why should we have to add yet another app, like Ivy launcher just to get a clean UI? Rant over…
I just looked at the Shield Pro listing on Amazon and found that orders for the unit is still fairly brisk.I have a sneaking suspicion that some of the higher up execs are streamers.

LOL! that would be the only reason the Shield stays around. It’s such a small % of their Revenue as Nvdia now is all about selling their Chips for Datacenters and AI
Buzz TV Classic Ai is one of the best non Google certified boxes out and is Android 14. Sits @ 210.00 which is same for the Formuler boxes 11 or 12.
There are still a few Ugoos AM9’s for sale at $154 on Amazon. They are refurbished units and they have 15 left. Alibaba has one listed for just over $1,000. What a joke.
@Mcigarz , Excellent RANT! Years ago Google TV streamers were needed to get Netflix, Prime Video, Pluto etc. apps on your non- Smart TV. It’s also been many years since you could buy a new TV that wasn’t a Smart TV with hundreds of preloaded apps available. Leaving me with the question, "If my new TV already has hundreds of verified apps included, what kind of streaming device do I really need? " I’m becoming more and more a fan of AOSP. My first venture was a T95 plus, which isn’t the best but it does whatever you ask it to sideload.
Can you explain your thought process on not having a Google TV certification? Are you not using any of the strreaming services?
Well this is a Cord Cutters Forum. Lot’s are here to learn how we can get all the content a streaming service offers without actually having to use a Streaming service. Haven’t had cable, or Netflix for years BUT still get all that content that they offer from what I’ve learned here
No, I get that, I guess I just get alot of streaming services for free so I use them. I’m not against the idea of not using them I was just curious if there was another reason.
