Iphone as remote to control my AM9 Box

Happy New Years everyone. I am trying to control my AM9 box with my Iphone just like I do with all my 3 google certified boxes, (2 Onn 4K Pro & NVIDIA Pro) using the google tv app, all 3 boxes are on the same wifi along with my Iphone. I use my phone to copy my playlist and EPG list from my provider (typing it in with the AM9 remote sometimes takes me quite a long time and I always type the wrong info) into TiviMate, works really fast. My AM9 is not Googled certified so I can not control it with Google TV app on my Iphone. So looking for a app or guide that would do the same as Google TV app. Thanks

@gonefishing…. found this….says Google has a new app in app store

@itzme Thanks, but I have that app already installed on my phone but cannot discover my AM9 box, Have tried all the options with no luck, all my other 3 boxes are showing up

If your phone iOS 15.0 or newer….and ā€œThe Google TV Appā€ is ver. 3.29.00002 from 9.30.2025 then that’s all I got….

@itzme Will double check both. Somehow I got it recognized on my Google TV app now it shows (Cast) in brackets and when I click on it it’s telling me to ā€œplay something from your library to show play back controlsā€. The round control section on the remote app will not come up. Will keep searching for a fix. ThanksšŸ˜€

So this is how far I have got on this on my Iphone with the Google TV app, can not get past this, I have tried everything to get the playback controls to show up, anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

If you select something from your library they will come up? Where do you get your library? I presume it means your playlist or such? find a movie? Maybe test with a You tube video?

  • Once the app is installed, open it and sign in with the same Google account as your Android TV.

  • Once you’re signed in, select the Home tab, and tap the TV Remote button located at the bottom right corner.

  • Now select your Android TV, stick, or box that you want to control. If you can’t see your device, make sure it is turned on, connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPhone, and signed in with the same Google ID.

  • An alphanumeric code should show up on your TV. Enter this code on your iPhone.

just checking….this is how you got started ?

@itzme Thanks for the guide, I think this is were I am having problems, I never got the code on screen on my tv to enter, also when I open my Google TV app, it goes right to all my devices, I do not see the Home option. I will logout of my account and reenter to see if it lets me start all over. Again thanks

if ya click the 2nd link in my first post, that guy does start to finish, that’s where my info is coming from, so you should go, read, and follow his steps….

I’ve had this same issue. Seems none of the available apps work with non-certified Android. I believe that it is because these versions are phone OS and not genuine TV OSs. (Correct me if I’m wrong).

However when it comes to controlling Kodi I use Sybu for Kodi. I’ve tried them all and this is the best. You still have to open Kodi using your Android remote but once it’s open you’re good.

So for my AM9, in the Google app store on my Onn 4k pro and my Nvidia TV pro, both allow me to download TDK App killer & TDK cache cleaner, but on my AM9 google play store both are not listed in the play store, strange. So I came across this video from Teck Doctor about Firesend, you can create a 24hr quick share room that you can put the TDK App killer and the TDK cache cleaner into to send to another device, so I did and now have this apk in my download folder, but I cannot install on this box, I have tried different APK installers with not luck. What do you all suggest that I try next?

Funny that on the AM9 google play store they are not listed
