my playback tunnel was off. I’ll try it on, but can’t test it until early evening. I’ll let you all know if it solves the problem.
Miki, I use fire sticks, I know what you think of them, is the new firestick 4K plus for 12.00 real? What did I read about updates prevent them from side loading? True. Or until I come around will it be an update from my 4K max?
I stopped using Firesticks when I came back from living in Mexico 2 yrs ago. Troy has posted some videos on blocking The Amazon changes. Lots have been successful in following those instructions. But as I no longer use FireOS I can’t verify any of the changes personally. I still have 3 4K Max, but won’t ever use them.
The “new” Firestick 4k plus is just the old 4k. Yes, you can still sideload it (unlike the 4k select). Where have you found it for $12.00???
Well turning on playback tunnel worked great. a lot of annoying things like the stupid cat appearing midway in a show has not happened.
I just tried again with playback tunnel on and Surf Shark–so far so good. As usual, Miki may have saved the day! I’ll check back in a few days because this issue didn’t happen even time, just off and on….D
So you are bypassing the VPN for the app?
No. Inside the settings for Stremio is a tunnelled playback option that has nothing to do with the VPN. I never shut my VPN off.
Tunneled Playback – Primarily for Android TVs, sending the video signal straight to the TV by-passing video drivers etc. Aims to improve 4K, audio sync etc. Hardware Acceleration – offloads video decoding to your graphics card rather than cpu.
Now I’m confused….. Tunneled Playback is a setting in the streaming box?
The setting is not in the steaming box it’s in the Stremio app.
open Stremio.
Click on Settings (far left menu, at the bottom)
Settings when clicked, on opens to the far right,
click on “Playback” in the new settings menu.
make sure Tunneled Playback is on.
I now have my VPN on also and no problem. I hated not having it on, especially for Stremio. All good now. let me know if you need more explicit instructions.
I’m upstairs now with my firestick 4K. Guess what? If SS is on—stupid cat. I turned playback on but that did not fix the VPN issue. Sigh. I hope you have better luck. At least my PCL is fixed.
Curiouser and curiouser, the cat said!
That darn cat has NINE LIVES!
I’ll mess around with it this weekend. I have not tried different Surf Shark connections on the fire stick.
BTW did turning on playback fix Stremio for you?
So far, simply using the VLC external player seems to have cured 90+ of the problem.
I just used an external player, the one I used is just player. Not had any problems since.
Same issue
I had to go to My Fire tv device and force shutdown and restart. Everything started downloading successfully.
I got the same thing and all I did was go to settings and changed the player to external and chose a different one.
I’m having trouble with Stremio. At home it worked perfectly with the add‑ons I needed, like Torb0x and Torrentio. When I traveled 100 miles to my sister’s place to set it up, everything seemed fine once I logged in—my favorites were still in the library, and I only had to add Torbox with Premiumize.
However, after reading an article on the top Stremio add-ons, I decided to install Pirate Bay. As soon as I pasted the manifest into the add‑on box and synced, Stremio crashed. Now none of the add‑ons load, and nothing will open. I’ve already uninstalled and reinstalled twice, but I keep getting the same issue—the “blue clown” screen with no information.
Should I just ditch my account and start fresh?
#1Have you gone Into apps on your device and force stopped Stremio, cleared cache and then try opening it again and if possible go into your add-ons and delete The PirateBay+, then try again.
#2 Log out of Stremio if you can, then try logging back in. Or #3 uninstall/reinstall, log back in.
Thanks Miki for the quick response. I have gone into apps and forced stopped Stremio twice. I have cleared data and cache and tried opening it again. I have disconnected Surfshark and tried to sync, then logged back in to Surfshark and tried to sync. I have logged out of Stremio on my laptop and on my TV app and logged back in. I have uninstalled all the add-ons I had. When I log back in all my saved movies are there, but none of them will load.
