I did read your post. When I installed that player I had to use a VPN sever set in the UK. I also had to register using a UK postal code. Then I uninstalled it.
I must have misunderstood your post.
It looked like you were saying that you could use a vpn server in the states to access bbc iplayer. Your reply now clarifies that.
I’m not 100% sure this is the issue. I’m in the UK but its saying the box isn’t certified (and the same for ITVX). I assume its a bit like Netflix having to approve devices?
If you are in UK, why dont you just use your tv to watch bbc?
Its a good question - we don’t have an ariel in the house and we have always watched it as part of our expensive satellite package. Recently lost my job so looked into other options (IPTV being one of them). Essentially, I could watch BBC on another player I have but the question more about this box in general, a question to others that might have the same box with similar experiences.
In addition to that, if you want to use your stb to watch bbc iplayer, this link will help:
Open it up, click on the 3 vertical dots top right and " add to homepage"
When it opens, you will have to click on the bottom square icon to enlarge the picture.
Option 2: Download BBC iplayer from any app store and register with home address, ( assuming you have a licence).
The solution is posted in this thread. Several posts regarding the successful installation process were posted in Oct 2023.
The BBC iPlayer is good at picking up when someone is using a VPN, Only thing I can suggest experiment with different UK cities
I signed up with an active VPN, no postal code needed, just my e:mail, keep the VPN on, to a server in my Country not the UK, and have absolutely no issues running iPlayer and watching content.
I don’t use iPlayer. I only installed it to check it out. I uninstalled it shortly after I had downloaded it.
If ya have kodi there is an iplayer addon in official kodi repo, try that. Also catchuptvandmore addon is in there too, good for uk catchup especially itv and channel 4.
