I have a question about Tivimate . I have a Pluto TV m3u file in Tivimate . When Pluto adds new channels to their line up do they automatically update in Tivimate to the new channels or do you have to add a new Pluto m3u file to get them ?
You could delete that playlist and add it again, but you can go into setting and use the “update playlist” feature. That should load any new channels.
I am not sure, but I believe the Pluto m3u scrape from the original source. So doing what AMD237 says is about all you can do.
I have both, the app and the m3u. The m3u is more convenient when using Tivimate.
UPDATE:
Fyi, I just checked and compared the app vs m3u. They both have the same number of groups and channels Even the seasonal “Season’s Greetings” group is appearing in both.
So, yes, do as AMD suggests and just update that playlist as would update any m3u playlist.
Every time I click on Update All playlists I get the message . Faild to update the playlist . Make sure the playlist are properly furmattad and check your enternet connection . My internet is connected . So I don’t no what the problem is .
I get that message to. I think it is because I have about 10 m3u playlists and anyone of them fails then you will see that message. Tivimate doesn’t say which one failed just displays an all-inclusive fail message.
So, here’s what I do. I just go into the playlists settings and update each one individually. Then you will find the one that failed.
Hey PowerFader. When a playlist or epg doesn’t update or “fails” to update my TiVi names the failed update. Then I delete that and start the process over again. Takes a bit of work but that’s the price of streaming.
Yes, tivimate will display one epg fail at a time, but only will only display a fail message for the playlists group and not display an individual playlist. At least that is what think? I usually just update each Indvidual one at a time.
How do you update a playlist individually ?
settings>Playlists>click a playlist>window opens on the right>scroll down near the bottom is “Update playlist”
Here’s the thing… if you have your Pluto m3u in Tivimate as a local file, it will not update. If you have your Pluto m3u as a Playlist Url, it will update.
I got it .Thanks for your help .
Not sure what you mean about updating a local file? Updating a playlist does just that. Updating an EPG does just that. I’ve never seen an update local file option. If it’s something you need or want then contact the dev and make a suggestion. The dev is always updating the app with new functions like trakt.
If you have a m3u that you downloaded (as a file) and saved on your devices hard drive It will not update.
Of course it won’t update until the m3u is installed into TiViMate and then the “update playlist” protocol is activated. So as I mentioned if this is something you’d like to see then send the developer a message. I’ve honestly never heard of anyone using TiVi to update local files, but to each their own.
I don’t know what you’re going on with me about. I was just trying to help the original poster who asked the question about updating a Pluto m3u. He never stated whether the file was entered into Tivimate as a local playlist or a url. I have many m3u’s that are huge, and I like to edit them way down to a small size and save them as a file and then use them on Tivimate. I don’t think this is anything unusual.
I was not going onto you. Calm down please. Your comment was that TiVi does not update an m3u file stored locally and my point is it never has and never did have the coding for that. This isn’t something the developer coded into it. All I was saying is if you want this feature then contact the developer. Have fun and STREAM ON!
LOL, I’m not the least bit wound up… but you seem to be mixed up about the point of my comment… as well as what Tivimate can and can’t do with a local playlist file. I’ve no problem with my statement. It was and is correct. You seem to have flipflopped with your info on updating an m3u playlist file a couple of times. And for pete’s sake, I don’t need or want to contact the developer to add any features. I’m happy with it as is and I know how to use it.
I also know how to use it and have never flip flopped on the use of m3u files. I’m glad you’re not wound up. As for your statement about it not updating a local file stored on the “device” I just found that odd and confusing as tivi never has done that and is not coded to. But all good. If you have more info about “installed” playlists in Tivi that I’m unaware of I’d certainly enjoy your input. We seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot. I know you mentioned local files and updating and my point was simply that if you think this is someting Tivi should do then the Dev is open to suggestions. Oh one more thing if I ever give out info you feel is false or misleading then by all means I’m open to learning and would enjoy the opportunity as this is what Troy’s forum is about. Have fun and STREAM ON!

Those were all your comments regarding an m3u local playlist file. To me it definitely seemed like you were flipflopping back and forth regarding whether or not it could be updated. Which of course it can’t. :o)
All good in the hood. As long as we are on the same side of the road now, we can drive off into the sunset peacefully.
One last thing… you can’t ask the dev to add the option to update a locally stored playlist because it’s not possible. Not on Tivimate, not on any player, just wouldn’t be possible.
