šŸ Hold Off Purchasing New BuzzTV Boxes

You canā€™t polish a turd and low resolution images are never going to look good and the bigger the screen size the more noticeable it will be.
Some TVs are better than others at upscaling lower resolution images.

Did the update fix any of the issues I mentioned?

If you need full audio pass through support and all image codec support then you wonā€™t get that from a cheap device.
But you can get that for less than $200
If you donā€™t need any of the above buy a cheap device.

I wouldnā€™t by a Shield now because the OS is no longer supported
Not sure what you mean here. But if referring to the Shield then the OS certainly is still supported and updates are still being released. I love the upscaling and have it active all the time, and where it is active, as an avid videophile, I most definately notice the difference.

Itā€™s a 65" Samsung QN95C QLED if I remember correctly, with the one connect system and a Q990C sound system.

I meant that Android tvOS has been replaced with Google tvOS which means that newer apps will not be supported on the old Android tvOS.
I did also mention some other reasons as well.
Which I doubt will ever be implemented.
I have Ai Pro upscaling on my TV but donā€™t use it because I prefer the image to look like itā€™s intended and not artificial.
But I rarely watch low resolution content so no need to upscale it.

I canā€™t honestly say as so far every new app that has been released, and I want, has installed and worked without issue. I have never experienced the ā€œartificialā€ look you refer to. Just absolutely amazing clarity and colour. I appreciate my Home Theater with the heart of a Shield Pro. Have a great day @Avid08 .

I think @Avid08 may have meant to say natural versus artificial. That joke I say here and there about being able to see zits on an actors nose. Thatā€™s one thing I donā€™t like about these 4K TVs I can imagine when an 8K looks like. Itā€™s so clear and perfection it doesnā€™t look natural. Itā€™s kind of like taking a picture of your backyard and looks better than you looking at your backyard. Just my opinion though. :sunglasses::sunglasses:

That is a valid point @AJS1. Iā€™ve heard a number of ppl with the same observation. I have only 1 channel in my IPTV that is actually 8K and I do find the look to be almost 3D but also maybe a tad to clear, if that makes sense. I honestly think that when 8K becomes the norm Iā€™ll scale down to 4K as, to me, thatā€™s the best picture I want.

I only know of the Japanese channel
Nhk bs8k that broadcast in 8k but you would need an 8k receiver and TV to view it properly.
It would be downscaled on a 4k tv and receiver.
What is the 8k channel you have access to?

The only real benefit of 8k TVā€™s is for upscaling as I doubt TV broadcasts will become the norm as lots of TV broadcasts are not even in 4k now.
Which is probably down to cost and broadcasters would not want to incur more costs by broadcasting in 8k.
Lots of movies are still shot in 2k to keep the cost down also.

8k has been around for several years and you still donā€™t see hardly any native 8k content.
I just donā€™t see how they could recoup the cost involved in producing native 8k content.

I personally donā€™t see it taking off because they say itā€™s hard for the human eye to really compare 4k and 8k unless you get really close or the screen is very large.

Sorry Iā€™m not going to broadcast my IPTV channels in open forum. A vast majority of my channels are AI-Enhanced. I keep my setting for Detail enhancement to Medium(default) on the Shield. I do wish more streams would natively be in 3840x2160 UHD 4K as well.

Well it must be a Japanese TV channel as no other broadcaster outside of Japan broadcasts in 8k.
The content they broadcast is shot in native 4k but broadcast and upscaled to 8k
I donā€™t see the harm in naming a TV channel though.
I have Ai upscaling but personally prefer not to use it as 1080p and 4k looks good enough without any image trickery imo.

What ever works for you is perfect and thatā€™s all that matters. As for not naming a channel I have good reasons that Iā€™m not willing to divulge nor explain.

I have been using iptv for years and donā€™t mind naming any channels I have access to but you have your reasons, so all good.
But I do know the only 8k broadcasts that are available are by Japanese satellite broadcaster Nhk.
So maybe your supplier is misleading you somehow claiming to be offering a 8k tv channel.
Unless they are actually offering the channel I mentioned.
You donā€™t happen to speak Japanese do you?

Hey Avid, you do whatever you want in open forum. I have a position that requires more discretion and wonā€™t discuss any unverified IPTV in open forum for any reason. I also do not give recommendations, or invites, for any IPTV. Have a good day I have a ton of work to do. Tx for your input.

It wasnā€™t me who actually started talking about iptv and I also didnā€™t ask about any recommendations or invites and neither would I ask or need them.
I simply asked for a channel name which I saw no harm in.
I would also say that any supplier claiming to offer 8k channels is intentionally misleading people.
Because there arenā€™t any, other than the satellite channels I mentioned.
Enjoy your day also.

not again

I have to admit you are tenacious. As you need comprehension, let me explain, and then I have more important things to do. The channel, were I to name it, would be immediately recognizable, and could potentially put a target on the site. So again, as I have an obligation to all members here, I refuse to name it, out of an abundance of caution, in open forum. GL2U.

Itā€™s not tenacity and I donā€™t need you to name the channel because I know the only channel that is broadcast in 8k is the channel I named.
I stand by what I say that any site or supplier offering live TV channels in 8k is intentionally misleading people.

Just to be sure, it isnā€™t what you need at all, itā€™s what I chose to do or not do. Have a good day.
